A Powerful Study of the Book of Acts

I am so delighted with the new women’s Bible study series from Moody Publishers! The latest treasure I have found within the series was written by Erica Wiggenhorn, and is entitled “An Unexplainable Life: Recovering the Wonder and Devotion of the Early Church”. In this 10-week study, readers delve into the book of Acts, specifically chapters 1 through 12. As Erica explains about Acts, “(it) is the story of Christ’s mission becoming reality in the lives of his followers. To study it is an invitation for it to become your reality and mine.”

“An Unexplainable Life” is an in-depth daily study that intentionally engages readers by providing powerful insight and thought-provoking questions, all in a warm and conversational voice. At the same time it illustrates how to effectively cross-reference Scripture for greater understanding of the text of Acts itself. Most of the daily lessons include a guide for the daily reading of several verses in Acts, additional Scripture verses to look up, questions to ponder, suggestions for memorization and application, and ideas for prayer. Clearly, if you are looking for a quick and easy daily devotional, this is not it! Working through each day’s lesson usually takes between 20 to 30 minutes, but if a particular verse or question requires deeper thought or reflection, it may take significantly longer.

If you are in search of an in-depth Bible study that will help to “reignite a movement of the Holy Spirit in us individually and in our churches collectively”, I really urge you to give “An Unexplainable Life” a try. Although I’ve enjoyed all of the Moody Bible studies for women so far, this one is definitely the best and most powerful.

I received this book courtesy of Moody Publishers in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
