I don’t know how she does it… Jaime Jo Wright never fails to deliver a story that is simultaneously haunting yet redemptive, atmospheric yet spiritual, and macabre yet beautiful.  Talk about a fascinating juxtaposition of themes!  “The Premonition at Withers Farm” is one of the most gripping novels I’ve read in a long while, as the mystery and murder sweeping through a small town in the year 1910 brings mayhem and unexplainable intentions.  The unexpected part?  It seems to be happening again, in the same town, but this time in the present day…

Interesting themes of mental and postpartum health, communication with the deceased, and the complex ways our mind processes emotions; all combine with equally far-reaching Christian and spiritual conundrums in this story.  As both our historic and present day characters face circumstances that are beyond their control, yet impact their very souls, we are taken with them on a journey that will give us goosebumps while making us take a long look at our own hearts and relationships with God.

This story is not all theological and deep, however.  Quite the contrary, for it is actually a compelling and unputdownable mystery that kept me guessing until the very end.  It is a truly complex story that will stay with you and leave you still pondering its messages for days and weeks to come.  So, why not check out “The Premonition at Withers Farm” as a riveting escape from this cold winter season…  that is, if you dare?!
