Susie Finkbeiner Hits A Home Run

Susie Finkbeiner has a way with words that is all at once nostalgic and hopeful, artistic yet simplistic, raw and so very tender.  Published by Revell in the summer of 2023, “The All American” is a charming story that you won’t want to miss.  The Hardings felt like my  neighbors by the time I reached the mid-way point, and by the end they had become family.

With humor, love, and spunk, this story is told through the eyes of two sisters – each trading off every other chapter.  Such a contrast of personalities and perspectives is great fun to watch unfold, and yet their mutual love for their family binds them together with something only sisters will understand.  While the heartache portrayed in this story is written with pain and beauty, the redemption of it is so poignant that you can’t help but be moved.

I truly loved every page of this story, and will continue to read every novel this talented and deep-reaching author pens.  Her writing is so simple yet so powerful, that every time I pick up one of her stories I am reminded of the juxtaposition of so many things in life.  And each time, it softens and teaches my heart.
