This Story Is Like Beautiful, Everyday-Ordinary Poetry

What an unexpected, beautiful story this was, oh my goodness! “The Wind Blows in Sleeping Grass” by Katie Powner is one of the most heartfelt books I’ve read in awhile.  I cried, I laughed, I could barely put it down to go to sleep – seriously.

From the first page this character-driven story had me and my heart hooked.  And what characters they are!  Pete is our protagonist, and although broken and bruised by his past, we find ourselves wholeheartedly cheering for his future.  His best buddies include Pearl (his potbellied pig), and domino partner Windy Ray – and that’s about it… Until some unexpected happenings (and new acquaintances) occur to turn his entire life – past, present, and future – completely on its head!

Every page of this book is like poetry, but in an everyday-ordinary sort of way.  What I mean by that is, it is so down to earth and homey, and yet the themes that unravel inside these pages are so utterly profound that you can’t help but be moved by them.

I loved every page of this novel and am recommending it to everybody I can think of who enjoys wholesome, powerful, thought provoking stories.  If this sounds like you, I highly recommend a visit to Sleeping Grass be in your very near future…. You won’t regret your time spent there, I guarantee you that.
