The Most Action-Packed Story of the Series!

I’ve long anticipated the third installment of “The Nikki Boyd Files”, a Romantic Suspense series written by Lisa Harris and published by Revell. Fittingly entitled “Pursued”, this new story is an edge-of-your-seat nail-biter in just as many ways as the previous books in the series (“Vendetta” and “Missing”), but is perhaps even more descriptively violent. My First Experience with a Legal Thriller

“Hayden is on track to become the youngest partner in her prestigious DC law firm. . . If the case she’s just been handed doesn’t destroy her first.” When I picked up my first Legal Thriller I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but with a tagline like that, how could I refuse to give it a try, especially when I have enjoyed the author’s previous work? “Beyond Justice” was written by Cara Putman and published by Thomas Nelson in April of 2017. After reading the first few chapters of this out-of-my-comfort-zone story, I wondered what I had gotten myself into… Continue reading

I’m Already Anticipating My Next Visit to Cimarron Creek!

It’s been a while since I’ve read and thoroughly enjoyed a heartwarming Christian Historical Romance, but I’ve just finished one that definitely fits that description… Although “A Stolen Heart” is the first novel I’ve read by Amanda Cabot, it certainly won’t be my last! Published by Revell in the spring of 2017, this story is the first of the “Cimarron Creek Trilogy”. Without question, this story contains all of the elements that fans of Historical Fiction love and expect, including memorable characters, a western setting, and a heart-melting romance, but with an added dose of mystery and drama woven in as well. Step Back in Time to the Wilds of Alaska

What fun it is to open the first book of a new series with no expectations, and then discover a lovely story that captures your heart and imagination! “In the Shadow of Denali” was written by Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse, and is the first book in “The Heart of Alaska” series. Published by Bethany House in 2017, this book weaves fascinating facts about the history, geography, and biology of the untamed land of Alaska in the early 1900s into a story filled with memorable and dynamic characters. Not a Book I Recommend

traces-of-guilt-imageDee Henderson is the popular and award-winning author of many bestselling series, but honestly, after reading her latest novel, I don’t see what all the hype for her writing is about. “Traces of Guilt: An Evie Blackwell Cold Case”, was published by Bethany House late in 2016. It is presumably the first of a new series, but is somehow connected to many of Henderson’s previous books as well. In any case, I was excited to dive into what I hoped would be a fascinating mystery filled with twists and turns as a years-old mystery is finally solved. That’s what a cold case mystery novel is, right? Unfortunately, not so much…

“Traces of Guilt” was disappointing for several primary reasons: Continue reading

Or perhaps you enjoy clean Christian romances that also contain all the elements of suspense and thrilling action. Well, if either instance sounds like your kind of novel, look no further than book number two in Irene Hannon’s “Men of Valor” series, published by Revell and entitled Thin Ice.
