And just when I thought I couldn’t love Kimberley Woodhouse’s books any more than I already did…. She releases a showstopper called “The Secrets Beneath”!  This story is truly incredible, both for it’s unique portrayal of paleontology in the 1800s and it’s richly drawn characters that never cease to surprise.

“Treasures Of The Earth” is the brand new series that begins with “The Secrets Beneath”, and I cannot wait for the next title to be released.  I assume it will be related to the field of paleontology as well, but I’m not certain.  I’m also not sure if it will contain hints of the same place and people, but I hope so!  

An unexpected aspect of this story was the inclusion of some serious mental health struggles with one of the characters, and also a years-old mystery that pervades the entire town and it’s inhabitants.  Only at the very end do we finally understand, and everything becomes clear – though be prepared for a fair amount of nail-biting scenes before we reach that point!

In any case, I cannot recommend highly enough this fascinating historical novel.  Faith fills the pages, and paleontology enriches the story as historically-accurate details come to life before our eyes.  Kimberley Woodhouse is a master author, and she is also amazing at researching and including the most incredible (and often little-known) pieces of history in her work.
