A Promising Start To The Series!

What a unique and promising start to Jody Hedlund’s new series!  Calling on the Matchmaker” is the first book in the “A Shanahan Match” saga, and I am very much looking forward to more installments about this family.

I won’t go into details about the historical backdrop or characters’ heritage, but I would like to point out that the concept of a matchmaker forming the basis for the hero and heroine’s relationship was such a fun and fascinating element in the story.  It had me guessing as to the matchmaker’s motives, and also cheering for him along the way.  Certainly there are many serious elements to the story as well (such as cholera pandemics and heavy burdens of guilt), so I would not lead you to believe that it is a light-hearted or frivolous novel in any way – but when you place your future marriage into the hands of a third-party, interesting results are bound to occur!

If you are looking for a new and fresh historical fiction story to enjoy this spring, I definitely recommend giving “Calling on the Matchmaker” a try.  I also look forward to discovering what is in store next for the members of the Shanahan family in book two of the series… judging by the last last chapter of this story, I think I may have an inkling what’s in their future, and it’s going to be an unputdownable story as well!
