Doesn’t the title alone just capture your attention right away? It did for me! “The Legacy of Longdale Manor” is the first novel I’ve read by Carrie Turansky, but now I have a hankering to go back and dive into some of her previous work because, well, it is very clear that she’s an amazing and talented author.
Although there are many things to applaud about his novel, the first that stands out is how it is actually two stories in one, taking place a century apart but interweaving back and forth to create a unique tapestry of faith, healing, and love. I’m always drawn to historical drama but the present-day portion of this story had me hooked as well.
The characters in this story are very vividly portrayed, which is why their struggles are intensely felt by us, the readers. In so many ways, Charlotte’s decisions mirror what I’m certain mine would be in her place. This made for a very compelling story that was nearly impossible to put down at times, I can tell you that! Plus, the setting came to life so beautifully that it was almost a character in and of itself.
Without question I highly recommend this dual-time story from Bethany House Publishers to all fans of inspirational romance, Historical Fiction, and well-crafted Christian novels.
