I Preferred Her Previous Series…

After enjoying Liz Johnson’s “Prince Edward Island Dreams” series published by Revell, I couldn’t wait to read the first story (entitled “A Sparkle of Silver”) in her brand new series of “Georgia Coast Romance” novels. With a unique treasure hunt and a secondary story in the form of diary pages, “A Sparkle of Silver” promised to be a great story. . . Continue reading

A Satisfying Conclusion to a Fascinating Series

I always feel like sighing after finishing the last installment of a series, as it brings both a sense of completion and a feeling of regret that the journey has concluded. Suzanne Woods Fisher’s “Nantucket Legacy” trilogy, published by Revell, has now come to a close with “The Light Before Day”. The fascinating Quaker history combined with an intriguing plot, memorable characters, and a second parallel tale told through a decades-old journal, all combine to make this series one that I am glad to have read. A Second Visit to Nantucket

“Minding the Light” is Suzanne Woods Fisher’s newest release in the “Nantucket Legacy” series, a unique story filled with fascinating history, a secondary plot from an earlier generation (in the form of a journal), and the unique setting of Nantucket Island in the 19th century. Published by Revell in the summer of 2018, this story of the Quakers who made a living from the dangerous whale trade is a must-read for all of Ms. Fisher’s Amish fiction fans. Continue reading

A Heartfelt and Reflective Adventure

“She always wanted a different heart. But she never expected the adventure that would come with it.” After reading this tagline, who could resist learning more about the story it describes? “The Heart Between Us” was written by new-to-me author Lindsay Harrel and published by Thomas Nelson just in time for Spring, 2018. As readers step into the pages of this sweet novel, they will be swept along on an adventure of growth, challenge, discovery, and love. Continue reading

An Inspiring Nantucket Adventure

Although I haven’t read very many of Suzanne Woods Fisher’s numerous novels, the ones I have read are always enjoyable and unique. Her newest Historical Romance release from Revell Publishing, “Phoebe’s Light”, was no exception, and is the first of an exciting new series called the “Nantucket Legacy”. As the back cover promises, readers will be swept away on an adventure set against the “treacherous shores of Quaker life on the storied Nantucket Island”. Continue reading

A Precious, God-Breathed Message for Dreaming Hearts

Every once in a while, a book comes along that impacts your life in ways both beautiful and altogether transformative. A book like this reaches deep into your heart and stirs to life parts of your soul that have long been hidden, all while challenging and inspiring your thoughts and ideas. “Dreaming with God: A Bold Call to Step Out and Follow God’s Lead” by Sarah Beth Marr is just such a book for me, and I know without a doubt that I am not the only one who will be tremendously blessed by its precious messages. Published by Baker Books and released in February of 2018, “Dreaming with God” is truly the type of book that will remain with you long after you reach the end. Continue reading

A Powerful and Timely Message

Have you ever had an experience where it feels like God sends you a gift at just the right moment in your life, when He knows you need it most? I’ve had this happen to me several times recently… “This I Know: Trusting Your Unknown Future to a Known God” is a 6-Week Bible study written by Laura Dingman, and is part of the Bible Studies for Women series from Moody Publishers. I haven’t quite finished the study yet, but so far nearly every lesson has felt like a special message from God to me. Continue reading

A Special Announcement

I am excited to share with you about a special project that I am honored to be a part of. . .  I was accepted as part of the launch team for a very, very precious book that I truly believe will transform the lives of women all over the world.  Just what is the special book?  It is “Dreaming with God: A Bold Call to Step Out and Follow God’s Lead” by Sarah Beth Marr.

While I am not quite ready to write a review for this book just yet (because I just began reading a few days ago) in  the meantime I would love to share with you a few of my favorite quotes, some basic information about the book, and the lovely book trailer that will definitely convince you to read pre-order this gem so that you can start “Dreaming with God”, too!  Continue reading

A Fresh and Inspiring New Bible Study

If you are looking for a fresh, inspiring new way to study God’s word, I have a wonderful suggestion for you! “His Last Words: What Jesus Taught and Prayed in His Final Hours” was written by Kim Erickson and published by Moody Publishers early in 2017. This unique book is a 7-week Bible study of John 13-17, and takes readers through these chapters verse by verse. Because of the content and focus-verses of the book, it would make a wonderful study to delve into during the Easter season.

Each chapter or “week” of this book is divided into 5 sections, effectively forming a 5-day study week. The week opens up with a brief word from the author, and then gets right into the work of the day. Each day’s assigned reading is placed, verse by verse, into a chart with space where you can easily write down what you learned from the verse, and what the Holy Spirit revealed to you as you read it. NKJV Journal the Word Bible – A Lovely Edition

journal-the-word-bible-imageAre you searching for a high-quality, durable, and reader-friendly Bible that is suitable for everyday use? So was I, until I found a lovely new version from Thomas Nelson, entitled “NKJV Journal the Word Large Print Bible: Reflect, Journal, or Create Art Next to Your Favorite Verses”. From the floral-fabric encased hardcover to the thick, cream-colored pages, this Bible delighted me from the start. Of course, the special feature of this edition was also a bonus – the lightly ruled lines vertically bordering one side of each page allow for plenty of room to include notes, reflections, or even art next to the verses themselves.
