Are you looking for a fast-paced, intense story filled with intrigue, mystery, and shocking twists at every turn? Or perhaps you enjoy clean Christian romances that also contain all the elements of suspense and thrilling action. Well, if either instance sounds like your kind of novel, look no further than book number two in Irene Hannon’s “Men of Valor” series, published by Revell and entitled Thin Ice.

This can’t put-it-down novel has it all; a compelling cast of characters, a gripping, twisting, and unexpected plot, and a climax that will take your breath away and have you reading long into the night! After losing both her parents and her sister in the space of a few months, Christy Reed is struggling to regain a sense of normal in her life. When a message written by her thought-to-be-deceased sister arrives at her door, she is traumatized more than she could ever have dreamed possible. As FBI Special Agent Lance McGregor, a man with hidden secrets and a hurtful past of his own, steps in to help Christy track down the message’s origin, the two discover tender feelings beginning to develop for each other. Before long, however, it becomes apparent that a relationship between them will never work until the psychotic mastermind behind this deadly game is apprehended… Or will he be victorious in taking down his prey first?

Without question, this was one of the most absorbing romantic suspense novels I have read. In many ways, the characters’ situations and dilemmas are almost tangible enough to become reality. Consequently, this makes the book extremely powerful. Not only are the characters and their emotions vivid, but so are the intense, sinister, and sometimes horrifying events that surround them. Because of this quality of near reality, I do not recommend this book to easily-frightened readers, or those who are not accustomed to suspense novels in general. On the other hand, for readers who don’t mind these elements and are expecting to be enjoyably frightened, I can heartily say, what are you waiting for? Thin Ice will provide compelling adventure, romance, and mystery that you won’t soon forget!
