At long last, Revell has released the second installment in “The Nikki Boyd Files” by Lisa Harris, entitled “Missing”. Picking up shortly after “Vendetta” came to a close, “Missing” has Nikki and her team on the trail of a missing couple who seemed to escape the scene of a murder in their own home. It doesn’t take long for the husband’s body to be found… But what about the wife? With fast-paced action and nail-biting exploits at every turn, Nikki and her team race against the clock even as the trail of the missing woman leads them into a deadly ring of counterfeit drugs and a murderer who will stop at nothing to keep his secrets hidden. As all skilled detectives know, “The first 48 hours are the most critical…”
I have awaited the continuation of “The Nikki Boyd Files” since the conclusion of “Vendetta”, and was not disappointed with the resulting story. While perhaps not quite as compelling as the first book, “Missing” is still a masterfully told story in its own right, with plenty of twists and turns – and red herrings, too! – to keep you guessing until the end. The deepening relationship between Nikki and Tyler was a sweet addition to an otherwise intense novel, and I look forward to their continuing story in Book #3 (to be released in the spring of 2017). One element I did expect to see more of was the continuing search for Nikki’s long-missing sister, Sarah. While mentioned and investigated occasionally, the intensity of the search was nowhere near that in “Vendetta”. Will the third book in the series depict Nikki finally putting her search to rest? Or will a new lead throw a surprise twist at us all? I guess we’ll have to wait and see… If you enjoy Christian Romantic Suspense novels, I certainly recommend “The Nikki Boyd Files”, but suggest only reading “Missing” after you have finished “Vendetta”.
I am grateful to have received a copy of this book from Revell Reads, free of charge, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
