Lysa TerKeurst’s beautiful new devotional from Thomas Nelson Publishers will take your breath away. This precious book is entitled “Embraced: 100 Devotions to Know God Is Holding You Close”, and is exquisite not only in design, but also in content. Lysa’s words are heartfelt and compassionate as she guides her readers like a beloved friend who truly understands the heartaches of life.
We all know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but when I first picked up my copy of “Embraced”, it was somehow obvious that I was holding a truly beautiful treasure-trove of inspiration to help us embrace faith, hope, and trust in our daily lives. With a beautiful clothbound cover, a ribbon marker, and thick and lightly watercolored pages, this book would make a lovely gift (but make sure to keep one for yourself, too!)
The 100 devotionals which make up the content of “Embraced” are divided into 4 sections: Embracing the Pursuit of Him and His Direction; Embracing the Fullness Found Only in Him; Embracing Him in the Midst of Hurt & Heartbreak; and Embracing the Call to Be Transformed. The devotional titles in the Table of Contents give us a good idea of the subjects, and the index in the back is arranged to help us search more precisely by topic.
Beginning with a key Bible verse and ending with a simple prayer prompt, each devotional is only a few pages long. And yet, those few pages hold a big impact. . . I’ve only had this book for a few days, and already I’ve found myself reading “just one more” devotional, as I adore Lysa’s sweet and wise words of hope and healing for my heart. Without question, this is the best devotional I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a very long time – perhaps because “Embraced” doesn’t hesitate to dive deeper into questions like “Why Isn’t God Answering My Prayer?”, “Why Would God Let This Happen?”, and “What Holds the Key to Your Heart?”. If you are looking for a gentle yet impacting new devotional to speak to your heart and point you towards a glimpse of the way our Heavenly Father embraces us each day of our lives, look no further than “Embraced: 100 Devotions to Know God Is Holding You Close”.
I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
