Stretch Your Creativeness – Guest Review by Tracy

“Created for More: 30 Days to Seeing Your World In a New Way” is a small book, perfect for picking up and reading a bit at a time.  The subtitle of this book is exactly right.  It enables you to see your world in a new way.  I didn’t read it in 30 days, instead I read one devotional (about 3 pages long), and thought about, used, and applied these words for a few days.  Then when I felt ready I would read the next one, and do the same thing again.  Continue reading

The Perfect Way to Start Your Day

Susie Larson is an author I greatly respect, and whenever a new book releases with her name on it I quickly try and add it to my reading list. Her newest volume from Bethany House Publishers is entitled “Blessings for the Soul: Words of Grace and Peace for Your Heart”. This lovely little book is packaged as a floral hardcover with a ribbon bookmark and thick pages that are printed with botanic designs – but the true merit comes from the words on the pages. . . Gentle, Comforting, Encouraging – Guest Review by Hayley

“Hope Your Heart Needs” by popular author Holly Gerth is a lovely little addition to the devotional genre.  Published by Revell in 2018, “Hope Your Heart Needs” is the newest title in the growing list of books by this author. Continue reading

A Fabulous, Interactive Devotional to Inspire Creativity – Guest Review by Hayley

Have you ever felt as though you are not creative?  Maybe you feel like creativity is only something for those “artsy types” who are able to understand abstract art, or seem to always get the perfect angles in their photographs.  Well, in her new book, “Courageous Creative”, Jenny Randle is here to tell you that the creative journey is for absolutely everyone because we have all been created by a creative God.  Whatever your life looks like, this interactive devotional will be a valuable step to either boost your creative mind, or rediscover the creativity that is perhaps buried beneath the not-so-great parts of life. This Devotional is a Beautiful Treasure-Trove of Inspiration

Lysa TerKeurst’s beautiful new devotional from Thomas Nelson Publishers will take your breath away.  This precious book is entitled “Embraced: 100 Devotions to Know God Is Holding You Close”, and is exquisite not only in design, but also in content. Lysa’s words are heartfelt and compassionate as she guides her readers like a beloved friend who truly understands the heartaches of life. Continue reading

A New Favorite Bible!

Do you love exploring new editions of the Bible, sometimes in different versions and usually with different distinguishing features? I know I do! The newest Bible that I’ve had the pleasure of using is “The Woman’s NIV Study Bible: Receiving God’s Truth for Balance, Hope, and Transformation”. Published by Thomas Nelson in 2018, this lovely edition was edited by Dorothy Kelley Patterson and Rhonda Harrington Kelley, and is truly a keepsake Bible that will become a treasured possession to many women. A Great Resource

While prayer is something we are all familiar with, I believe if we are honest with ourselves it is also something we often struggle with. A new book from Moody Publishers addresses this topic directly with a book by Bill Thrasher, entitled “A Journey to Victorious Praying: Finding Discipline and Delight in Your Prayer Life”. This book is for you “If you’ve ever felt too busy, confused, or unmotivated to pray”.

This little book makes an excellent month-long daily devotional because the content is divided into short chapters that are packed with advice, stories, insights, questions for thought and journaling, key Scripture verses, and more. Continue reading

Sweet Stories of Canine Companions

I love animals, especially dogs—so much so, in fact, that I own two dogs of my own, work at an animal shelter, and am training to become a canine massage therapist! So when the opportunity came along to read a book filled with inspirational dog stories, how could I resist? “Doctor Dog: Healing Touches from Pets We Love” was written by M.R. Wells, and published by Harvest House. Categorized as a Devotional, this little book contains dozens of stories about dogs of all shapes and sizes changing the lives of the people they love, often in amazing ways. Continue reading

Another Fantastic Bible Study from Moody

“I Am Found: Quitting the Game of Hide and Seek With God and Others” is the third Moody Bible Study for Women that I’ve had the pleasure of reading. Written by Laura Dingman as a 6-week study guide, this volume is a little shorter than the other books in the series, but packs plenty of insight into each page.

One way that “I Am Found” is different from the other Moody Bible Studies for Women is that it does not focus on a specific book (or partial book) of the Bible, but rather zooms in on the themes of shame and identity. Continue reading

A Powerful Study of the Book of Acts

I am so delighted with the new women’s Bible study series from Moody Publishers! The latest treasure I have found within the series was written by Erica Wiggenhorn, and is entitled “An Unexplainable Life: Recovering the Wonder and Devotion of the Early Church”. In this 10-week study, readers delve into the book of Acts, specifically chapters 1 through 12. As Erica explains about Acts, “(it) is the story of Christ’s mission becoming reality in the lives of his followers. To study it is an invitation for it to become your reality and mine.” Continue reading
