Have you ever felt unimportant, unlovable, not good enough, or simply out of place? I think for just about everyone, at some point in our lives, the answer to this question is ‘yes’. In her new book entitled “Back Roads to Belonging: Unexpected Paths to Finding Your Place and Your People”, author Kristen Strong dives into the topic of belonging, exploring many of the struggles we all experience while gently reminding us of the power of relaxing into the unique role, time, place, and circumstance that God has placed each one of us.
In “Backroads to Belonging”, Kristen touches on many topics including: Extending Kindness to Yourself; Growing in the Dark; Looking in the Quiet; Growing Up and Out; Speaking Up and Out; Arriving at Your Pathway’s End; and many more. With compassion and understanding, this sweet author writes in a ‘been-there-done-that’ voice, and really helps to remind us that for those who belong to Jesus, we DO matter and belong – already, always, no matter what.
I love Kristen’s statement of what she hopes her book will provide readers: “a song for your heart and soul, a regular tune to come back to whose melody points you toward your Father in heaven who gives good gifts, including a sense of belonging… a compass bringing your heart back to its true North.” If your heart needs some help remembering that it does belong, that you DO matter, I definitely recommend reading this sweet book – it will likely prove to be the perfect balm for your soul!
