Historical Romance With A Twist

I always open a new Rachel Fordham book with the expectation of a gentle historical romance that will sweep me back in time and inspire both my faith and imagination.  “A Lady In Attendance” was published by Revell, and is just such a story… with a unique twist!

In the 1890s, a lady in attendance was the title given to a secretary or receptionist, in this case for a dentist’s office.  Sounds pretty ordinary, right?  But our lady in attendance has some dark secrets that threaten to rob her of any future she may hope for… because the last five years of her life were spent in prison.

If this storyline sounds unusual for the genre, I thought so too!  But through it Rachel Fordham weaves a sweet story of redemption and forgiveness, combined with a touch of mystery and adventure, that is certain to touch the hearts of all who read it.  I enjoyed it, and found it to be my favorite of this author’s novels so far.

I received this book courtesy of Revell Publishing, in participation with a Revell Reads Blog Tour.  All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
