A Treasure Trove of Prayers

every-season-prayers-imageThe title of a non-fiction book does not always convey the full purpose and content of the book itself. In the case of a new book written by Scotty Smith and published by Baker Books, however, the title sums up the content perfectly… What is this book? It is called, “Every Season Prayers: Gospel-Centered Prayers for the Whole of Life”.

“Every Season Prayers” is truly a treasure trove of prayers that are fitting for many, many different seasons, circumstances, and situations that Christians are likely to find themselves in at some point in life. For example, a few of the sections are entitled:
– Praying the Scriptures Verse by Verse
– Prayers of Lament
– Prayers for Listening to the Heart of God
– Short and Simple Prayers
– Prayers for All Occasions
– And many more!

One thing I would have liked to see in this book is a complete listing of all the prayers, to help easily find the one that is most fitting for that day or moment. Of course, locating the section that is most relevant and then perusing through those pages is really not that difficult, so I can’t fault the author too much for this minor detail!

Overall, these prayers are extremely heartfelt and, as the title states, gospel-centered. If you are ever at a loss for what to say in your prayers, as I’m sure most people are from time to time, I cannot recommend “Every Season Prayers” enough. As you search the pages for prayers that you can lift up to God, this wonderful volume will undoubtedly become filled with bookmarks poking out in all directions, and serving as reminders for the powerful prayers which most resonate with you.

I am grateful to have received a copy of this book from Baker Books Bloggers, free of charge, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
