I’ve long been anticipating the third and final story in Mary Connealy’s “High Sierra Sweathearts” series, and at last “The Unexpected Champion” has been released! This exciting, sometimes-hilarious-sometimes-frightening story is a fitting conclusion to a unique series, and I’m so glad that everything is satisfactorily tied up for the family who claimed my imagination first in “The Accidental Guardian”, then “The Reluctant Warrior”.

If you haven’t read the first two “High Sierra Sweethearts” stories, I definitely recommend enjoying them before diving into “The Unexpected Champion” – everything will make MUCH more sense, trust me! The entire series has a western setting in the mid-1800s, and is light-hearted Christian Historical Romance with sprinklings of suspense (there is a kidnapping, and actually a murder or two as well). The stories are quite clean and appropriate for the genre, but there are a few romantic scenarios in this third book that may make it unsuitable for younger readers.

If you are looking for a new Christian Historical series to read, why not check out the “High Sierra Sweethearts”? Now that they are all available, it would be a perfect series to binge-read all at once during a lazy week of summer vacation!
