Another Powerful Book from Dr. Michelle Bengtson

Have you ever struggled with worry, anxiety, and fear? Yep, that could pretty much describe all of us at some point in our lives, right? As Christians, however, we have a few not-so-secret weapons to cope with and combat the battle against anxiety. Of course, this comes through claiming our identity in Christ, but sometimes that is easier said than done. Dr. Michelle Bengtson’s new book from Revell is a powerful volume that reminds us how each day we have the choice of “Breaking Anxiety’s Grip: How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises”.

I was a big fan of Dr. Michelle’s previous book “Hope Prevails: Insights from a Doctor’s Personal Journey Through Depression”, and was delighted to find that her new release is laid out in much the same way. Each chapter is written in her signature blend of warmth and wisdom, and opens with a Bible verse and pertinent quote. Following next is a reading about a specific aspect of anxiety from the author’s personal life experience, and that of being a neuropsychologist for 25 years. At the end of the chapter are three of my favorite parts: Your Rx (Bible verses to look up and ponder or memorize, questions to ask ourselves, and journaling prompts to consider); My Prayer for You (a heartfelt prayer and blessing from the author to each of her readers); and a Recommended Playlist of worship songs (many of which have become additions to my daily morning playlist!).

In the end, if you or a loved one is struggling to bring the presence of God and His peace back into your life, I definitely recommend this heartfelt and impacting book that helps readers in “Breaking Anxiety’s Grip”. Using Scripture as the foundation, Dr. Michelle helps us to integrate peace as a way of life – no matter what circumstances we are in.
