Yay – Amanda Cabot’s New Series Begins!

I was so excited to hear that bestselling author Amanda Cabot had released a new series! “Out of the Embers” is the first story in the “Mesquite Springs” saga, and was released by Revell in the spring of 2020. This emotional story will undoubtedly appeal to any fan of Christian Historical Fiction, as it combines masterful storytelling with a compelling plot and lifelike characters. Altogether, the result is a story that stays in your heart long after reaching the last page…

Set in 1855, this story begins with tragedy, is filled with drama and unexpected twists and turns, and ends in a way that will tug your heartstrings. I adored Evelyn and Wyatt, and even though their romance was a bit predictable, it was sweet nonetheless. The mystery-element to the story was definitely an exciting addition, and ended up in a way I certainly did not expect. One downside to the story was that the character of Polly, Evelyn’s young charge, seemed like a bit of an overindulged and spoiled child at times. Because of this, I think it diminished the author’s intention of her being an endearing and lovable character. Despite this shortcoming (that other readers may not mind at all) I greatly enjoyed my visit to Mesquite Springs, and look forward to the next story when I can get reacquainted with the friends I grew to love!
