I don’t know how she does it, but Stephenia H. McGee’s new release from Revell is so vivid and real in my imagination that it feels more like a movie than a novel! “The Secrets of Emberwild” is a beautiful, sweeping, and unforgettable story that I adored from start to finish, and if you enjoy Christian Historical Fiction it should definitely be high on your to-read list as well. So Much Life Is Held Within These Pages
What a beautiful, unexpected, ‘overflowing’ book this was! What do I mean by overflowing? Well, there was just so much story, emotion, and ‘living’ held within the pages of this story, that it truly seems to overflow with it all – in the best way possible…. “By Way of the Moonlight” was written by the amazingly talented Elizabeth Musser and published by Bethany House. It is the second book I’ve read by this author, and it cements my opinion that she is unparalleled in her craft as a writer of emotional, multi-layered fiction that is not afraid to dive deep into the longings of the human soul. You’ll Never Guess Who Stars in the Final ”Hearts on the Heath” Story!
If you enjoy Regency Romance in the Christian genre, you most likely have read a book or two (or more!) by Kristi Ann Hunter. Her newest release from Bethany House Publishers, “Enchanting the Heiress” is the third (and I’m guessing final) story in her “Hearts on the Heath” series. This one I have long been awaiting, because it takes such an unlikely pairing of people, woven into a unique drama, and leaves you with a story you won’t soon forget! Continue reading
The Sequel Outshines The First Story!
When reading a new novel by Kristi Ann Hunter, you are always in for a delightful time filled with laugh-out-loud wit, memorable characters, and a storyline that will keep you captivated. “Winning the Gentleman” is the second book in the “Hearts on the Heath” series from Bethany House Publishers, and I enjoyed it even more than the first!
Continue readingA Lovely New Regency Romance Series Begins!
Kristi Ann Hunter is my favorite author of Christian novels set in the Regency era, and I have enjoyed reading each one of her books. I was delighted to learn that her new 2020 release is the beginning of a brand new series (her third series from Bethany House, I believe?) called “Hearts on the Heath”.
“Vying for the Viscount” is the first story of this new series, and from chapter one I was swept away to the time period made so famous by Jane Austen’s stories. In a way, Kristi’s new novel is reminiscent of an Austen story, with all the wit and wisdom underlying the ridiculous-sounding customs of courtship and all the rituals relating to it. Continue reading
I Love Ann Gabhart’s Appalachian Stories!
I adore all of Ann H. Gabhart’s novels that I’ve had the pleasure of reading, but her stories set in the Appalachian mountains are somehow extra-special. “An Appalachian Summer” released from Revell in the summer of 2020, and was a whimsical, romantic novel that carried me away to another time and place, and surrounded me with characters who quickly felt like friends. A Beautiful Devotional-Style Book for Animal Lovers
I am a seasonal/part-time pet sitter, and so the title of a new release from Harvest House Publishers immediately caught my attention… “My Hair-Raising and Heartwarming Adventures as a Pet Sitter: A Life of Fun, Fur, and Faith”! Written by professional pet sitter Christi Grace, this book is an anthology of stories about her career of caring for other peoples’ pets when they are away from home – as you can imagine, she has seen a little bit of everything! Continue reading
Yay – Amanda Cabot’s New Series Begins!
I was so excited to hear that bestselling author Amanda Cabot had released a new series! “Out of the Embers” is the first story in the “Mesquite Springs” saga, and was released by Revell in the spring of 2020. This emotional story will undoubtedly appeal to any fan of Christian Historical Fiction, as it combines masterful storytelling with a compelling plot and lifelike characters. Altogether, the result is a story that stays in your heart long after reaching the last page… Continue reading
A Delightful First Encounter with Mary Connealy
Believe it or not, I had never read a book by Mary Connealy until her newest title was released from Bethany House. Now I regret having missed out on this talented author’s previous work, because her newest story was such a delight! “The Accidental Guardian” is the first book in the “High Sierra Sweethearts” series, with the second novel set to be released later this fall. Filled with nail-biting adventure, beautifully detailed setting, sweet romance, subtle humor, and heart-warming themes, this is truly Christian Historical Fiction at it’s best. Continue reading
Not My Kind of Story
I wanted to like this book; I really did. A secret heir and a rags-to-riches story set in England… Sounds great, right? “A Most Noble Heir” was written by Susan Anne Mason and published by Bethany House, but apart from a promising premise this story just had too many faults to be truly enjoyable. Continue reading
