It isn’t every day that a book comes your way which inspires you, challenges you, makes you laugh, makes you cry, and makes you think. But every once in a while, there is just such a book, and for me this was “Before I Called You Mine” by Nicole Deese.
What amazed me most about this book was the emotion. Everything felt so real, whether it be unexplainable joy, or heart-wrenching pain – this made it both wonderful and sometimes a little difficult to read. The main character was also very life-like in all ways, whether it be in her triumphs or mistakes.
I also love that this book focused on the topic of adoption – something that you don’t often see in novels. It was fascinating and truly beautiful to learn about adoption and read this story which was written by an author who has experienced this very thing in her own life.
Even after just reading the back cover, I knew this book would be something special, but after finishing the entire story I found all of my hopes and expectations surpassed. The beauty of this story is something I cannot explain. It must be felt and experienced by each individual reader, and I truly hope that you will place this book as next on your to-be-read list.
