A Final Visit to Prince Edward Island. . .

It’s not every day that the second or third book in a series outshines the first. . . However, I’ve just finished a story which provides proof that it can happen! The “Prince Edward Island Dreams” series, written by Liz Johnson and published by Revell, began with “The Red Door Inn”, followed by “Where Two Hearts Meet”, and has just concluded with the best installment of them all: “On Love’s Gentle Shore”. Released in July of 2017, and obviously set on Canada’s smallest province of Prince Edward Island, this book was a must-read for me during the month of Canada’s 150th birthday. Continue reading

I Wish I Lived in Hope Harbor!

The “Hope Harbor Novels” by Irene Hannon are sweet, realistic-yet-whimsical, relaxing stories that are certain to boost your spirits and leave you smiling. In fact, they are a lot like Hallmark movies in book-format, with some extra elements of faith added in. “Sandpiper Cove” is the newest addition to this delightful series published by Revell, and is actually my favorite so far.

As I was saying, if you enjoy Hallmark-style stories, you should definitely plan a visit to the seaside village of Hope Harbor, Oregon. It doesn’t really matter if you read the books out of order, but many characters do recur in each novel and it is enjoyable to watch their continuing stories unfold in the background. Inspirational and Challenging

You aren’t supposed to judge a book by it’s cover, but sometimes it just can’t be helped! This was the case for me with Becky Wade’s newest novel from Bethany House Publishers, entitled “True to You”. Although I’d never before read a book by Ms. Wade, I just HAD to give this one a try, especially after reading the unique synopsis. . . To explain it simply: genealogist Nora Bradford and former Navy SEAL John Lawson work together to discover the secrets of a hidden ancestry, and soon begin to realize they make a perfect pair—until a wound from the past resurfaces and threatens to submerge any hope at a future together. As the first installation of the “Bradford Sisters Romance” series, this book did a fantastic job at not only creating John and Nora’s story, but also setting the stage for the other two Bradford sisters and their romances, too! The Newest Heart-Pounding Installment of “Elite Guardians”

moving-target-imageAn island covered with designed-to-kill booby traps. Two people whose past returns to haunt them. And a madman bent on revenge. Doesn’t this sound like a thrilling novel that will suck you in and never release you until the end? “Moving Target” is the third book in Lynette Eason’s “Elite Guardians” series published by Revell, and is truly Romantic Suspense at it’s best. After reading the first two books in the series, I grew very curious about the story behind Quinn and Maddy’s relationship… Well, this book finally reveals all that, and so much more! Nice Story for an Armchair Vacation

img_0138Once again Liz Johnson takes us on a sweet vacation to the beloved little Canadian island in her newest release of the “Prince Edward Island Dreams” series. “Where Two Hearts Meet” was published by Revell in the autumn of 2016, and continues the story of “The Red Door Inn”, but this time with two different protagonists – one a familiar face, and one a newcomer. Book #2 of an Unforgettable Series

the-cottage-imageI just finished one of the best books I’ve read in 2016, written by my all-time favorite author Michael Phillips. This story will hold a treasured place on my bookshelf, as well as in my heart, always. What book am I referring to? Well, it is the second in a Bethany House series called the “Secrets of the Shetlands”, which began in May 2016 with “The Inheritance”. The newest installment, which I just finished reading, is called “The Cottage”. Finally, the series will be wrapped up next summer with “The Legacy”. (And I can’t wait!) Each of these books is very closely interwoven, and picks up almost immediately after the previous book comes to a close. Continue reading

A Great Continuation of the “Elite Guardians” Series

without-warning-imageAlthough Christian Romantic Suspense is not my go-to genre of choice, I am happy to be swept away by one filled with mystery, intrigue, and excitement once in a while. Last year I enjoyed “Always Watching”, the first book in Lynette Eason’s “Elite Guardians” series published by Revell, and recently had the chance to read the second installment entitled “Without Warning”. Just who are the Elite Guardians, you ask? As the tagline for the series explains: “Intensity. Skill. Tenacity. The Bodyguards of Elite Guardians Agency Have It All.” Continue reading

The First (For Me), But Not the Last!

Fading Starlight image“Fading Starlight” is the first book I’ve read by Kathryn Cushman, but it most definitely won’t be the last! Published by Bethany House in 2016, “Fading Starlight” is a contemporary story that weaves the past and present into one captivating narrative. The gift Ms. Cushman has for bringing her characters to life causes readers to feel as though they are watching a movie, not reading a novel, but this story’s merits don’t end there. Let’s take a look at three of the foundational elements upon which this story is built…

If you have ever been interested in fashion and design, even a little bit, this book will undoubtedly prove as fascinating for you as it was for me. Nearly the entire storyline is based upon a foundation of these elements, and the details are delightful to uncover. Continue reading

A Pleasant, Enjoyable Surprise!

Like Never Before imageAlthough Contemporary Romance isn’t a genre I read all the time, one new title caught my eye, and I am so glad it did! It was sweet! It was witty! It was compelling! “Like Never Before” by Melissa Tagg is actually a book from the middle of “The Walker Family” series, but I didn’t realize this when I selected it. Thankfully though, I had no trouble reading it as a standalone novel. Published by Bethany House in the spring of 2016, this enjoyable story will hold your interest throughout a uniquely woven storyline before ultimately causing you to sigh at the happily-ever-after ending.
