Are you a Christian woman who desires to serve God to the best of your ability, and to align your life with God’s perfect design? If so, I want to share with you a new book that holds the ability to permanently transform your life from the inside out… “Girl Defined: God’s Radical Design for Beauty, Femininity, and Identity” was written by sisters Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird, and published by BakerBooks in mid-2016. Because they explain it so well, I’ll let Kristen and Bethany give you a little background info: “The reason we wrote this book is to give you a radically better vision for what true womanhood is all about. The only hope we have as women is to stop defining ourselves according to other people’s standards and start defining it according to God’s Word. In order to become all God created you to be, you have to gain a vision for what true God-defined femininity is all about.”
Although each reader will undoubtedly have her own favorite features, the four that resonated most with me include:
– “The Three Pillars of Counterfeit Femininity” and “The Three Pillars of Biblical Womanhood”: these elements were extremely eye-opening and challenging. And trust me, you will be surprised to discover what they are!
– The numerous stories of girls and women at differing stages of life. Each of these examples was powerful for one of two reasons: they showed the beauty of living out true, biblical womanhood, or they showed the heartache bound to come from living according to the culture’s definition of womanhood.
– The “What, Why, and When Filter”; this awesome little tool will help shed light on whether or not our specific plans and goals are aligning with God’s truth, and honoring Him to the fullest.
– The “B.R.A.V.E. acrostic”… The chapter discussing this concept will enable us to determine if we are living a Bold, Radical, Anchored, Vigilant, and Empowered life!
Without a shadow of doubt, the exceptional book entitled “Girl Defined” should be required reading for all young ladies. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if it became a classic for many years to come. As an accompaniment to this book, I also highly recommend checking out the Girl Defined website, which is packed with awesome blog posts, videos, webinars, suggested reading lists, and oh-so-much-more. Truly, authors Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird are to be commended for their down-to-earth writing style and challenging ideas which, if taken to heart by readers, just might change the world one woman at a time!
