A Deep Dive Into Old Testament History

I’ve been excited about this new title from the Moody Publishers Bible Studies for Women series ever since I saw the announcement for its release.  The Godly Kings of Judah: Faithful Living for Lasting Influence – An 8-Week Bible Study” was written by Cynthia Cavanaugh and it is everything I was hoping for… and then some!   Continue reading

A Fascinating And Fun Look At Biblical Genres

“Literarily: How Understanding Bible Genres Transforms Bible Study” is one of the most unique handbooks for Scriptural study that I’ve read.  Written by Kristie Anyabwile and published by Moody, this book is practical and thought-provoking, and also a lot of fun to read! Continue reading

A Very Relevant Read

Foreshadows: 12 Megaclues That Jesus’ Return Is Nearer Than Ever” by Steve Miller has been called the most important prophecy book of the year, and I can certainly see why.  Published by Harvest Prophecy (an imprint of Harvest House Publishers) this book contains such an immense amount of information, and is an incredible resource for so many reasons.  Let’s take a look at just a few… Continue reading

An Unforgettable Debut

I love reading debut novels for so many reasons…  One of them is because I am  never quite sure what to expect, and so often I’m blown away by the newly revealed talent of a special young author.  This was the case with a summer 2022 release from Revell.  Written by Sara Brunsvold, “The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip: All the wild ways to die could never compare to how she really lived” is a beautiful, unexpected, poignant tale that will make you cry and smile, laugh and ponder.  It is one of those books that can be read again soon, and still you will learn so much from the wisdom held in each page.   Continue reading

Invitations to Abundance: Such A Meaningful Experience

Have you ever picked up a book and, as you read it, realized it was such a timely message for your life right at this moment?  Invitations to Abundance: How the Feasts of the Bible Nourish Us Today” by Alicia J. Akins was just such a book for me, because the concept of biblical feasting has been a recurring theme in my life for the last several months.  None of the other resources I’ve read on the topic have been as deep and all-inclusive as this title though, and I am so thankful I was able to dive into this new release from Harvest House Publishers.   Continue reading

Annie Helps Us Bring The FUN Back!

I am quite certain that I’ll be in the minority when I say that I just finished reading “That Sounds Fun” by Annie F. Downs WITHOUT having ever listened to her podcast by the same name, but let me assure you that I have already bookmarked several episodes of the podcast that definitely sound very fun to me! Annie’s new book was published by Revell early in the year 2021, and the subtitle gives us a little hint of just what sorts of treasures we will discover within its pages: The Joys Of Being An Amateur, The Power Of Falling In Love, And Why You Need A Hobby. Sounds fun, right? Continue reading

Incredible Retelling of Queen Esther’s Story

I am always impressed by Jill Eileen Smith’s talent in creating compelling, vivid, and truth-based Biblical Fiction stories. Her newest release from Revell Publishers is my very favorite of all her books so far. . . “Star of Persia: Esther’s Story” is a beautiful, heart-wrenching, inspiring story that intrigued me with the first page, and held my imagination captive right until the end. Continue reading

A Must-Read If You’ve Ever Been Told You’re Too Sensitive. . .

Have you ever been told “you’re just too sensitive” and “don’t let things get to you”? Do you find yourself very aware of your surroundings, including tiny details that other people often miss? Do you take longer to process new information and form a response than others? Do loud noises, bright lights, and strong smells affect you intensely? If you answered yes to any of these sample questions, you just might be an HSP – a Highly Sensitive Person. . . According to Denise J. Hughes and Cheri Gregory’s new book from Harvest House Publishers, “Sensitive & Strong: A Guide for Highly Sensitive Persons and Those Who Love Them”, one in five people are HSPs, but many of us have become adept at hiding this truth – even from ourselves. Continuing The Patchwork Family Story

I have been waiting for Karen Witemeyer’s “More Than Words Can Say” ever since her last book, “More Than Meets the Eye”, was released in the summer of 2018. This new story from Bethany House Publishers continues the story of the “Patchwork Family” series. We finally discover what happens next for Zach Hamilton, who we were introduced to in the previous story, and also meet Abigail Kemp, a young baker with a big problem. Continue reading
