I started a journey earlier this year with a remarkable book by Erica Wiggenhorn entitled “An Unexplainable Life: Recovering the Wonder and Devotion of the Early Church”. This was a 10-week study of the first half of the book of Acts, and was part of the Moody Bible Studies for Women series. I’ve been waiting patiently (well, sort of patiently!) for the second study in the Acts set to be released, and the time has finally come! “The Unexplainable Church: Reigniting the Mission of the Early Believers” was also written by Erica Wiggenhorn, and is a 10-week Bible study covering Acts 13-28.
Following the same format as the previous study of Acts, “The Unexplainable Church” is divided into ten lessons which are then each sectioned into 5 daily readings. Typically each day starts with an assigned passage from Acts, followed by insights and personal stories from the author, questions to help the reading “stick”, additional Scriptures to cross-reference, and finally application questions and journaling prompts to help readers really incorporate the teachings into daily life.
Both “An Unexplainable Life” and now “An Unexplainable Church” have been incredible Bible studies that I have gained exponentially from. Truly a gifted teacher, Erica’s warm and caring voice shines through in each paragraph of her writing. She truly feels like a friend who is walking the path of transformation along with each of her readers—because, after all, she is! As Erica explains so candidly, “God wants to astonish the world with His grace. And when we study the book of Acts, we see that He does it by transforming ordinary people to do extraordinary things in Jesus’ name.” Are you ready to accept a divine invitation that will transform your life? Then be sure not to miss either of Erica Wiggenhorn’s masterful Bible studies based on the book of Acts. The results will be, well, unexplainable!
I received this book courtesy of Moody Publishers in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
