Not Her Best Work, Unfortunately

Elizabeth Camden’s unique writing style, combined with fascinating and factual historical elements of scientific discoveries, always makes for can’t-put-it-down reading material. Her newest novel from Bethany House is “A Daring Venture”, and is the sequel to “A Dangerous Legacy” which released last year. Continue reading

How Long Until the Sequel Releases!!?

I was long overdue for my dose of a Karen Witemeyer story, and her newest novel was even better than I’d hoped! “More Than Meets the Eye” was published by Bethany House as the first of the “Patchwork Family” novels, and just like all of Karen’s books is the perfect combination of sweet and heart-pounding, witty and thought-provoking. A Compelling, Thought-Provoking Alaskan Sequel!

At long last, the sequel to a book adored by many has finally been released! “Out of the Ashes” is book number two in “The Heart of Alaska” series written by Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse, and was published by Bethany House at the start of 2018. This delightful novel continues the stories of many characters from the first book (“In the Shadow of Denali”), and also introduces several fascinating new characters who find God’s hope and healing in the beautiful wilderness of Alaska. The End of a Memorable Saga

I have been waiting a long time to finally discover the conclusion to a strange mystery that stretched over three books. . . With the release of the third “Cousins of the Dove” story, I finally received this closure! “My Daughter’s Legacy” was written by Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould, and published by Harvest House in the summer of 2017. Continue reading

The Story of Acts Continues

I started a journey earlier this year with a remarkable book by Erica Wiggenhorn entitled “An Unexplainable Life: Recovering the Wonder and Devotion of the Early Church”. This was a 10-week study of the first half of the book of Acts, and was part of the Moody Bible Studies for Women series. I’ve been waiting patiently (well, sort of patiently!) for the second study in the Acts set to be released, and the time has finally come! “The Unexplainable Church: Reigniting the Mission of the Early Believers” was also written by Erica Wiggenhorn, and is a 10-week Bible study covering Acts 13-28. I Wish It Wasn’t Over! (Guest Review by Hayley)

I didn’t know for certain if the day would ever come.  But it has!  I have finally just finished reading the final installment of the “Serena Jones Mystery” series.  It was another breathless adventure full of questions waiting to be answered and untold dangers.  But more than that, readers will at last find the answer to the biggest mystery of the series:  Tanner or Nate? Continue reading

Cousins of the Dove Book #2

my-sisters-prayer-imageAfter a lengthy wait, the second book in Harvest House Publishing’s “Cousins of the Dove” series has finally been released! Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould have once again brought to life a fascinating tale which interweaves past and present into one compelling narrative called “My Sister’s Prayer”. Several characters are recurring and many are new, but the story itself is a natural continuation of the previous book entitled “My Brother’s Crown”. If you discovered the intrigue of that first novel, you won’t want to miss the continuing story of book #2! Continue reading

This Sequel Doesn’t Meet Expectations

honor-redeemed-imageAfter reading book #1 in the “Keys of Promise” series by Christine Johnson, I had very high expectations for book #2, “Honor Redeemed”. Were those expectations met? Well, not exactly…

“Honor Redeemed” was published by Revell in the later summer of 2016, and is the sequel to “Love’s Rescue” published the year before. Although the hero and heroine of this second story are newly introduced characters, several recurring characters also play important secondary roles. This gives readers a chance to be reacquainted with “old friends”. Continue reading

A Fascinating Sequel

13327472_792729517493676_1234031124058448960_nAn Elegant Facade imageIt isn’t very often that the second story in a series outshines the first, but that is exactly what has happened with the “Hawthorne House” series by Kristi Ann Hunter! “An Elegant Facade” is the new 2016 sequel to “A Noble Masquerade”, both published by Bethany House. According to Ms. Hunter’s website, the series will carry on for at least two more books, meaning that each of the four Hawthorne siblings will have their own story. Who is “An Elegant Facade” about, you ask? Well, it reveals the secrets of Georgina Hawthorne, and what a story it turns out to be! Continue reading

Christian Historical Fiction at Its Best! (Guest review by H.B.E.)

Anchor-in-the-Storm-658x1024I read “Through Waters Deep” very soon after it was released from Revell last year. Seeing how it became one of my MOST favourite books I have EVER read in my ENTIRE life, I guess you could say that I was just a little bit excited for “Anchor in the Storm” to be released. But could this new sequel even come close to reaching the nearly impossible high standards set by the first book in the Waves of Freedom series? Continue reading
