GirlDefined’s First Devotional Is Awesome!

I have read each and every one of Kristen Clark and Bethany Beal’s books, and I was so excited to see them release a devotional for the first time this spring!  “Shine Bright: 60 Days to Becoming a Girl Defined by God” is a beautiful little hardcover from BakerBooks, and more importantly, the inside is packed with 60 daily doses of hope, reflection, and guidance for getting into God’s word.

I love how “Shine Bright” takes so many topics that are relevant to women today, and guides us in the process of filtering them through Truth.  Each devotional is written in Kristen and Bethany’s signature warm, witty, and wise writing style, but the focus is not on their own stories.  Instead, each day points us towards Scripture, and diving into our Bibles to discover what God has to say about our daily lives.

Each devotional features a focus verse, followed by an anecdotal discussion from Kristen and/or Bethany about their experiences with the topic of the day.  Then at the end of each day is a section that directs us to a verse in Scripture, along with some thoughtful questions and ideas for journaling about what we have learned and how it relates to our own lives.

All in all “Shine Bright” is an excellent devotional, definitely one of my favorites!  I highly recommend it to young women as a way to help our quiet times become more God-centered, and as a power-boost to help us get back into our Bibles more frequently.  It would also make a precious gift for a friend or family member. Thank you GirlDefined, for once again sharing with us a beautiful book that encourages and guides girls and women in a life lived for God!
