You know how some series of books have plots that are so closely connected in time, the wait between their publications seems interminable? Susan May Warren’s “Sky King Ranch” series is very much written this way – after reading “Sunrise” several months ago, the countdown was on until “Sunburst” finally released from Revell. Now that I’ve devoured this one, I’m waiting (im)patiently for “Sundown” to be released later this fall!
But not to get ahead of ourselves, “Sunburst” was an enthralling and suspenseful book all on its own – I couldn’t put it down, and was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. It is action-packed, romantic, and unexpected… not to mention so masterfully written that you feel as though you are in the wilds of Africa one moment, then back safe at the Sky King Ranch in Alaska just a few short chapters later. Because it is a marriage of convenience story, there were a few scenarios that I wish could have been altered or skipped altogether, but for the most part it wasn’t a major issue.
I won’t get into the storyline because, well, there is so much to tell but I can’t without giving important details away. I will say that it continues the saga of the Kingston triplets, it is very closely connected to the first story (so be sure to read that first), and it will NOT be a boring or easily-forgettable novel. Other than that, if you enjoy Christian Romantic Suspense, you will definitely want to add this title to your list – and while you’re at it, you may as well add the final story (set to release in November) to your preorders as well!
