I’m Already Anticipating My Next Visit to Cimarron Creek!

It’s been a while since I’ve read and thoroughly enjoyed a heartwarming Christian Historical Romance, but I’ve just finished one that definitely fits that description… Although “A Stolen Heart” is the first novel I’ve read by Amanda Cabot, it certainly won’t be my last! Published by Revell in the spring of 2017, this story is the first of the “Cimarron Creek Trilogy”. Without question, this story contains all of the elements that fans of Historical Fiction love and expect, including memorable characters, a western setting, and a heart-melting romance, but with an added dose of mystery and drama woven in as well.

Although the first half of this book laid a foundation for what I was certain would be a peaceful and charming story (with the biggest issue being the heroine overcoming her status as an “outsider” in a small and close-knit community), I was wrong… Shocking secrets including murder, betrayal, and two brutal attacks come to light as the story draws to a climax. While the details on these horrible crimes are not overly descriptive, the recurring references occasionally border on inappropriate. Apart from these rare instances, however, “A Stolen Heart” somehow manages to retain a sweet and heartwarming essence that will truly capture the imagination and the heart of each reader. Don’t ask me how Amanda Cabot managed it, because I honestly don’t know, but even though “A Stolen Heart” held its fair share of corruptive and ugly secrets, it still managed to be wholesome, life-giving and sweet! In the end, I do recommend this first novel of the “Cimarron Creek Trilogy”, and look forward to the next installment coming early next year.

I received this book free of charge for review purposes. All opinions expressed are my own.

  2. I am wondering if this book is ‘without’ detailed sex … my mother loves to read historical romance books.. but finds that there is more, and more detailed sex scenes all the time.. she is a 83 year old Catholic.. mother to 8 children.. thanks ,,, if you have any book suggestions I would love to hear from you…
