Step Back In Time To Sweetwater Crossing

As you probably know, Christian Historical Fiction is my favorite genre hands-down.  More specifically, stories with a traditional western setting during the 1800s are my go-to choices.  So Amanda Cabot’s writing is always appealing to me, and when I saw that her new series entitled “Secrets of Sweetwater Crossing” is set in a little Texas town where love grows even as mysteries threaten to divide, I knew I wanted to give it a try! The Newest Politano Masterpiece

Joanna Davidson Politano’s newest novel is utterly mesmerizing from start to finish – proving once again that when this author tells a story, her readers are in for a captivating journey! “Finding Lady Enderly” was published by Revell in the autumn of 2019, and was highly anticipated by fans of Joanna’s previous two novels. Each of her tales are masterfully written, combining a breathless plot with thought-provoking themes that cause us to ponder more carefully about subjects we may simply take for granted. In the case of Lady Enderly, we are urged, along with our heroine, to take a deeper look at the identities we possess, both inner and outer. Continue reading

I Preferred Her Previous Series…

After enjoying Liz Johnson’s “Prince Edward Island Dreams” series published by Revell, I couldn’t wait to read the first story (entitled “A Sparkle of Silver”) in her brand new series of “Georgia Coast Romance” novels. With a unique treasure hunt and a secondary story in the form of diary pages, “A Sparkle of Silver” promised to be a great story. . . Continue reading

I’m Torn About This One…

Becky Wade is an amazing author whose stories sparkle with wit and whimsy, as well as characters who walk off the pages with their lifelikeness – from internal struggles to joyful triumphs and everything in between. Ms. Wade’s newest release from Bethany House is entitled “Falling for You”, and is the second full-length novel in the “Bradford Sisters Romance” series. Continue reading

A Spellbinding Mystery (But Not for the Faint-Hearted!)

You know you’ve discovered an author to watch when her debut novel is captivating, haunting, and truly holds you in frightened suspense from the first page to the last. “The House on Foster Hill”, written by Jaime Jo Wright and published by Bethany House, is just such a debut novel. Written with a spellbinding, dual-time storyline structure and filled with secrets and surprises that will keep you guessing, this story will live on in your imagination long after you’ve reached the final pages. Another Unforgettable and Can’t-Put-It-Down Novel from Elizabeth Camden

Whenever I reach the end of an Elizabeth Camden novel, I inevitably give a long sigh for two reasons: one, I’ve had the enjoyment of reading another compelling historical novel by a master writer; and two, a story that I wish could have lasted much longer is now finished. . . Ms. Camden’s newest novel, “A Dangerous Legacy”, was published by Bethany House and is historical fiction at its best, complete with mystery, romance, intrigue, and unique viewpoints of life in New York City in 1903. A Beautiful and Memorable Sequel

I have been anticipating my return to the fictitious town of Teaville for many months, until finally Melissa Jagear’s second Christian Historical Fiction novel in the “Teaville Moral Society” was released this summer. Published by Bethany House, “A Love So True” contains many recurring characters from her previous book “A Heart Most Certain” (and novella “Engaging the Competition”), but brings in a new cast, new challenges, and a new romance as well. Inspirational and Challenging

You aren’t supposed to judge a book by it’s cover, but sometimes it just can’t be helped! This was the case for me with Becky Wade’s newest novel from Bethany House Publishers, entitled “True to You”. Although I’d never before read a book by Ms. Wade, I just HAD to give this one a try, especially after reading the unique synopsis. . . To explain it simply: genealogist Nora Bradford and former Navy SEAL John Lawson work together to discover the secrets of a hidden ancestry, and soon begin to realize they make a perfect pair—until a wound from the past resurfaces and threatens to submerge any hope at a future together. As the first installation of the “Bradford Sisters Romance” series, this book did a fantastic job at not only creating John and Nora’s story, but also setting the stage for the other two Bradford sisters and their romances, too! I’m Already Anticipating My Next Visit to Cimarron Creek!

It’s been a while since I’ve read and thoroughly enjoyed a heartwarming Christian Historical Romance, but I’ve just finished one that definitely fits that description… Although “A Stolen Heart” is the first novel I’ve read by Amanda Cabot, it certainly won’t be my last! Published by Revell in the spring of 2017, this story is the first of the “Cimarron Creek Trilogy”. Without question, this story contains all of the elements that fans of Historical Fiction love and expect, including memorable characters, a western setting, and a heart-melting romance, but with an added dose of mystery and drama woven in as well. A Story That Will Stay With You Long After Reaching “The End”

287158-heart_most_certain-sliderControversy. Scandal. Desperation. These words were not ones I expected to use when describing the newly released Bethany House book entitled “A Heart Most Certain”, written by new-to-me author Melissa Jagears. The lovely cover image, the series name of “Teaville Moral Society”, and even the back-cover synopsis did not reveal what this book was truly about. While the storyline and plot did surprise me greatly, I was not, however, disappointed in my hope for a wonderful story. It was simply wonderful in unexpected ways. Continue reading
