The Adventures of the McQuaid Family Continue

Jody Hedlund’s “Colorado Cowboys” series continues with the fourth story of the adventurous McQuaid siblings.  This time it is the only sister Ivy getting the spotlight, as “Falling for the Cowgirl” ropes us into a dramatic adventure.

From the start, I always guessed who Ivy’s hero would be…
Jericho Bliss.  I knew this simply because we’ve witnessed her feelings for him grow and continue throughout the previous three books in the series, and it is high time this romance was brought to the forefront and given the attention it deserved!  Ivy as a protagonist is both entertaining and frustrating, because although her big heart cannot be ignored, her strong will is sometimes hard to take.  Jericho’s intentions towards her, to protect her from his own life choices, are admirable but as he quickly discovers, feelings can sometimes derail our best intentions. Now My Summer Is Complete!

I know I’ve said it before, but I’m going to say it again – my summer would not be complete without reading a new Karen Witemeyer novel right in the middle!  In Honor’s Defense” is the latest Bethany House release from this prolific and bestselling author, and it is definitely one of my favorites.  It is also the third and final story of the “Hanger’s Horsemen” saga, and so it ties up all the lose ends we’ve been wondering about. Not The Series’ Finest

The “Colorado Cowboys” saga continues in book #3, “To Tame a Cowboy”, written by talented author Jody Hedlund and published by Bethany House.  I know there will be at least one more book to come in the series later this fall, and I’m expecting two more – so that each McQuaid sibling gets to tell their story.  Filled with plenty of adventure and romance set on the Western frontier, “To Tame a Cowboy” is an interesting addition to the series.  But, it is not my favourite for a few reasons… Continue reading

The Colorado Cowboys Story Continues

Jody Hedlund’s name is synonymous with masterfully written, historically accurate, compelling and immersive novels that transport you back in time and make you never want to leave!  Her new series is a bit unusual (for her) because it’s a western cowboy saga (her usual setting is earlier in history, and often in the UK), but still features all the elements we’ve come to expect from her writing.  The Heart of a Cowboy” is the second instalment in the “Colorado Cowboys” series from Bethany House, and is a high-stakes adventure that was nearly impossible to put down. Pack Your Bags, We’re Heading to Texas!

My summer just would not be complete if I didn’t get my annual Karen Witemeyer  western fix!  (Although October now, it’s better late than never, lol!)  The Heart’s Charge” is the new addition to the “Hanger’s Horsemen” series from Bethany House, and also a novel that can be enjoyed all on its own.  Interestingly, we get two separate-but-connected, equally important, romantic adventures in this single sweeping story.  How cool is that?!

From Pinkertons to Baby Raffles – This Story Has Everything!

Regina Jennings once again delivers a well-written, compelling, and historically intriguing novel from Bethany House Publishers – plus it is the first in a new series! “Courting Misfortune” opens up “The Joplin Chronicles” with a bang, as our Pinkerton-employed heroine faces danger of all sorts in a showdown against the shady side of a rough-and-tumble mining town. “The Brides of Hope Mountain” Reaches a Climax and Conclusion!

Sigh… You know that bittersweet feeling when you reach the final page of the concluding book in a series, knowing that your time with the characters is finished? “The Brides of Hope Mountain” series, written by Mary Connealy and published by Bethany House, has reached the end, and so our time with the three Nordegren sisters is over as well. “Her Secret Song” has long been on my reading list because I was so intrigued (and sometimes annoyed!) by the oldest of the three sisters, Ursula, but we had to wait patiently to see her story revealed. Continue reading

Finally! A New Karen Witemeyer Novel!

Each summer I look forward to a new release from one of my favorite authors of Christian Historical Fiction… Karen Witemeyer! Her summer 2020 release from Bethany House is actually the first book in a new series called “Hanger’s Horsemen” and was well worth the wait! If you love western adventures, clean romances, and stories that will tug at your heartstrings, look no further than “At Love’s Command”. Continue reading

An Entertaining Continuation in the “Brides of Hope Mountain” series

Bethany House Publishers and author Mary Connealy just released the second book in her current series, “Brides of Hope Mountain”. “Woman of Sunlight” narrates the story of the youngest of three sisters who lived in complete isolation on the side of a mountain, until a ranching family changed their lives forever. When a gunfight occurs not far from their beloved home, with the target being one of their own, this flung-together-family realizes that their lives are about to change once again, and in ways they never could have predicted. A Rollicking Conclusion to the Fort Reno Series

I have long been anticipating the last story in “The Fort Reno” series by Regina Jennings, and “The Major’s Daughter” finally released in December 2019! As the unlikely tale between Caroline Adams and Frisco Smith unfolds, I found myself laughing, cheering, and learning some fascinating history about the 1889 Land Run of of Oklahoma (there was some serious sneakiness that occurred, that’s for sure!).
