I adore all of Ann H. Gabhart’s novels that I’ve had the pleasure of reading, but her stories set in the Appalachian mountains are somehow extra-special. “An Appalachian Summer” released from Revell in the summer of 2020, and was a whimsical, romantic novel that carried me away to another time and place, and surrounded me with characters who quickly felt like friends.
If you enjoy learning about obscure yet fascinating tidbits from history, you will love this story based around the Frontier Nursing service set in the mountains of Kentucky. Romance, adventure, faith, and and self-discovery combine with vivid and compelling storytelling to make this a novel that leaps right off the pages and into your heart and imagination. It is, quite simply, Christian Historical Fiction at it’s best – if you are a fan of the genre, make sure to add it to your summer reading list, you won’t be disappointed!

I love stories about this area and about midwives.
