“The Key to Love” is the first book I’ve read by Betsy St. Amant. Published by Revell in the autumn of 2020, this sweet, baking-inspired story is certain to touch your heart and tickle your taste-buds as we watch romance unfold between the most unexpected of couples!
I enjoyed “The Key to Love” as a light story with sweet romance, much like a cupcake topped with frosting. However, I could never completely embrace the story as one that enveloped me into its world, and some of the sideline themes and details just felt jarring and strange – I couldn’t quite understand what their purpose for being there was. Now, this may be because I had some other difficult things going on in my life as I was reading this story, I won’t discount that probability. But still, it didn’t make a good enough impression for me to keep it on my read-again shelf, or even to inspire me to read more by this author. That’s not to say that other readers won’t enjoy this sweet contemporary romance, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea – or should I say my choice of petit four?
