When reading a new novel by Kristi Ann Hunter, you are always in for a delightful time filled with laugh-out-loud wit, memorable characters, and a storyline that will keep you captivated.  “Winning the Gentleman” is the second book in the “Hearts on the Heath” series from Bethany House Publishers, and I enjoyed it even more than the first!

Everything about this story drew me in – from the unlikely pairing of our two protagonists with their opposite personalities, to the subtle humor that weaves through the pages, to the more serious themes of accepting (and embracing) our places in God’s story. . .  I savored it all.  I also enjoyed how it is somewhat of a cinderella story, only with a lot more horses involved!  The bond between horse and rider is celebrated in these pages beautifully, and I know that equine-lovers will especially appreciate the inclusion of these animals.

I love how Kristi Ann’s books always combine new characters with old friends whose stories we are already familiar with – in “Winning the Gentleman” I felt like it was a family reunion that I’d been invited to, as characters from all three of her series made their presence known on the pages!  With their inside jokes and warm camaraderie, I never wanted this book to end. . . But now that it has, I am eagerly anticipating the next story from this must-read author.
