A Story Shared with Humility and Honesty – Guest Review by Hayley

One of Revell Publishing’s newest releases to the non-fiction market is “Hurt Road” by none other than Mark Lee, guitarist for the Christian band Third Day.  In a gentle, friendly style, Mark Lee invites us to join him in the stories he has lived, offering us a glimpse into “the music, the memories, and the miles between”.  While “Hurt Road” is a book that can easily be enjoyed by anyone, I would especially recommend it to those with a love of music, as much of the book is written from the perspective of a musician.

With a kind and gentle voice, Mark Lee guides us through his own journey, from the places he’s been, the people he’s met, and the lessons he’s learned, and invites us to gain wisdom from his path, even as we travel down our own.  He shares with us many of the momentous times of his life, from an accident in high school, to his wedding day, to the birth of his children, with grace and humor making for an enjoyable, insightful read from beginning to end.

To sum it up, “Hurt Road” is a work that the author should be proud of.  In many ways it is an autobiography, but in more ways, it is a story, and a testimony of his faith, shared in a voice of humility and honesty.

I received this book courtesy of Revell Publishing, in participation with a Revell Reads Blog Tour.  All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
