“The Lost Melody” is quite unlike any other book I have ever read, mostly due to the fact it takes place almost exclusively in the setting of the Hurstwell Pauper Lunatic Asylum.
As usual for Joanna Davidson Politano, “The Lost Melody” is written in a beautifully poetic style, with many thoughts and insights that are truly thought-provoking and intuitive. Within just the first few chapters I began to get some distinctly Jane Eyre vibes from this novel, and it continued on throughout much of the story. Plus, there is the usual mystery, intrigue, romance, and twisting, turning, spinning storyline that I’ve come to expect from this author. I had several ideas as to how it would end, but it turned out to be none of them. Not once did I guess correctly on how the mystery aspect of “The Lost Melody” would conclude. I believe that is a sign of a very well-done novel. Plus, readers of “A Midnight Dance” will appreciate a clever tie-in between these two books. Continue reading
I wait with breathless anticipation for each of Joanna Davidson Politano’s new books.
This has been a year filled with truly amazing new novels. Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly discover one more favorite book this late in the year… I did! But I should have known this would happen, when Joanna Davidson Politano released a new historical novel from Revell Publishers entitled “The Love Note”. Perhaps this talented author’s best work yet, this story did something to me that novels rarely do: it made me not only cry, but sob as tears streamed from my eyes! It was just that powerful, and touched my emotions profoundly.
Joanna Davidson Politano’s newest novel is utterly mesmerizing from start to finish – proving once again that when this author tells a story, her readers are in for a captivating journey! “Finding Lady Enderly” was published by Revell in the autumn of 2019, and was highly anticipated by fans of Joanna’s previous two novels. Each of her tales are masterfully written, combining a breathless plot with thought-provoking themes that cause us to ponder more carefully about subjects we may simply take for granted. In the case of Lady Enderly, we are urged, along with our heroine, to take a deeper look at the identities we possess, both inner and outer.
“Lady Jayne Disappears” by Joanna Davidson Politano is definitely one of the most unique stories I’ve read in 2017. Published by Revell in November, this fascinating novel also happens to be captivating and compelling, while imparting powerful messages of identity, love, and belonging. All this amounts to quite an accomplishment for a debut novel, wouldn’t you agree?
