I wait with breathless anticipation for each of Joanna Davidson Politano’s new books. When “A Midnight Dance” released from Revell, I was so excited to curl up during a peaceful afternoon and dive into Ms. Politano’s captivating new world of ballet – and then chaos struck our family. I found myself instead reading this long-anticipated novel in the waiting room of a hospital – and perhaps this made the story even more poignant and thought-provoking. At first it was a little difficult to ‘get into’, probably because of all the distractions in my life at the time. But once I was ‘in’, oh my, it was hard to come back out! Continue reading

A Perfect End-Of-Summer Visit to PEI
What better way to end the summer than with a trip to Prince Edward Island? I don’t mean literally, (though that would be nice!) but with Liz Johnson as our imagination’s guide, we can once again visit The Island in her new series from Revell entitled “Prince Edward Island Shores”. Continue reading
The Adventures in Nome Continue…
The long-awaited day arrived, when the second story in “The Treasures of Nome” series was released! Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse once again team up to release an unforgettable story from Bethany House Publishers, set in the northernmost state of Alaska during the 1890s. In “Endless Mercy” the youngest Powell sister tells her story as her dreams for a famous future collide with the tumultuous days of her past and present. Continue reading
I Can’t Believe This Is A Debut Novel!
“A Mosaic of Wings” by Kimberly Duffy is one of the most unique and captivating works of historical fiction I’ve read in a long time. . . It is very difficult to believe this is a debut novel! Published by Bethany House, this powerful book leaps into topics I’ve never before encountered in the genre, and the result was utterly enchanting. Continue reading
A Powerful Beginning to Jocelyn Green’s New Series
Jocelyn Green always leaves me in awe when I finish one of her books. With masterful prose, she manages to bring history to life in ways that make me feel as though I am living alongside her characters from the past, feeling every emotion and witnessing every event just as they do. “Veiled in Smoke”, her new release from Bethany House Publishers, is the first story in “The Windy City Saga”. This dramatic novel brings the tragic event of Chicago’s Great Fire of 1871 to vivid existence in our imagination, following two sisters as they experience the fire – and it’s aftereffects – firsthand. Continue reading
An Unforgettable Start to the New “Treasures of Nome” series!
Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse make an amazing author duo, and this spring they give us the opportunity to embark on a brand-new journey with the first book in their new series, “The Treasures of Nome”. Published by Bethany House and once again set in Alaska, this saga tells the story of the Powell sisters, who live with their mother and grandfather near the 1904 gold-rush boomtown of Nome. “Forever Hidden” zooms in on middle sister Havyn. Although she is the keeper of a few secrets that she’s never shared with anyone, she is content with her life on the farm – and completely unprepared for the changes that are about to turn her life upside down. Continue reading
A Beautiful Summer Escape – Guest Review by Hayley
“On a Summer Tide”, by Suzanne Woods Fisher is the first book I’ve read by this author. Although this book is in the Contemporary Romance genre, I would consider the romance in this book to be a more secondary storyline. The largest portion of “On a Summer Tide” is devoted to following the story of a father, his three grown daughters, and his grandson, as they struggle to reconnect after years of discord among their family following a terrible tragedy. Continue reading
A Pleasant Addition to the “Canadian Crossings” Series
Canadian author Susan Anne Mason continues the story set in her home country (and mine!) in book number two of the “Canadian Crossings” series. “The Highest of Hopes” was published by Bethany House, and tells the story of Emmaline Moore as she journeys to Canada in search of her father – and what she believes will finally be a place to belong. Continue reading
History + Science + Fiction = A New Elizabeth Camden Novel
Elizabeth Camden’s stories are always compelling and engaging, capable of sweeping her readers away with incredible, historical feats of science and engineering that are revealed through the lens of (fictional) people living in that time period. Ms. Camden’s newest release from Bethany House, “A Desperate Hope”, is another sequel to a couple of her previous books, (“A Dangerous Legacy” and “A Daring Venture”) but can very easily be read on it’s own, as well. Continue reading
Heather Holleman’s New Book Reminds Us That We Are Chosen for Christ
Heather Holleman is an author I greatly respect, as she always challenges me to think outside the box and dive deeper into some of the key verbs of Scripture. I’ve previously enjoyed her books “Included in Christ”, “Seated with Christ”, and “Guarded by Christ”, and was excited to begin her newest work from Moody Publishers entitled “Chosen for Christ: Stepping Into the Life You’ve Been Missing”. As Heather urges us, “It’s time to stop letting rejection write your story”. Continue reading
