“Cold Light of Day” is an action-packed new novel by Elizabeth Goddard that had me flipping pages as quickly as I could, even late into the night, in order to discover how this secret web of Alaskan intrigue would be unraveled. As the first book in the “Missing in Alaska” series, this novel takes off with a flying start. It is action-packed but features a strong and compelling storyline as well – plus characters who leap off the pages and into our mind’s eye. Continue reading

Healing For Your Heart And Wings For Your Imagination – Guest Review by Hayley
Having read three books now by Amanda Dykes, it is clear that this author possesses a divinely-bestowed talent with words. Rarely have I read such poetic writing in a novel. “All the Lost Places” brings readers this signature writing style in a very unique setting, one that I don’t believe I have ever seen before in a novel – Venice, and in two different time periods. Continue reading
What A Gem From Roseanna White! – guest review by Hayley
Roseanna White is one of my very favourite authors. Dual-time novels are some of my favourite books to read. A dual-time novel by Roseanna White? Well, it was destined to be fantastic from the very first page. Continue reading
Just What My Heart Needed – Guest Review by Hayley
Fans of Regency Era fiction will be eager to pick up Julie Klassen’s latest release, “The Sisters of Sea View.” As the beginning of her new series “On the Shores of Devonshire,” this book is a delightful read. Continue reading
It Drove Me Crazy! (In The Best Sense :)
Wow, did this book ever drive me crazy – in all the best ways possible! “In Love’s Time” by Kate Breslin is the type of story that snatches your imagination from the first page, and holds it captive right until the very end. The twists and turns, the agonizing misunderstandings, and the beautifully drawn-out love story set in war-torn Europe were all written in such a way that I felt as though I were right in the midst of it all – and biting my nails as I witnessed it unfold! A Captivating Conclusion to “Secrets of the Canyon”
I adore any book with Kimberley Woodhouse’s name on it, and her “Secrets of the Canyon” novels have been some of my very favourites from the start. “A Mark of Grace” is the third and final book in the series, and brings the saga to a beautiful and memorable conclusion. While I was reading, I found myself thinking often about this story as I went about my daily tasks – and after I finished the book I was still pondering it for days afterwards! That, in my opinion, is a sign of a well-written book. Continue reading
What A Ride!
Deep sigh…. We can all move on with our lives now, since at long last Susan May Warren’s “Sky King Ranch” trilogy has been completed! Each of the Kingston brothers has told their stories, and all of the loose ends have been tied up. “Sundown” was a nail-biting page-turner that kept me wondering at the outcome right until the end, and surprised me in ways I was not anticipating. Continue reading
A Deep Dive Into The Prophecies of Isaiah
The Moody Bible Studies for Women are generally similar to each other in lesson layout and study format. Plus, they share the same benefits of always being packed to overflowing with insightful and thought-provoking content that really helps us dive deeper into the Scriptures… But, each one is also individual and a unique blessing in its own way. “Predicting Jesus: A 6-Week Study of the Messianic Prophecies of Isaiah” was written by Kim Erickson, who brings to the table her unique skills of also being a lawyer. Using this knowledge of law and order, combined with a devastating and life-changing traumatic event in her family, Kim knew she needed to find proof for herself that God was real and His promises would come to pass… and this Bible study we hold in our hands today is the result of Kim’s quest! A Much-Needed Book For Today
“We can get overwhelmed by the enemy’s roars to the point that we no longer hear the loudest roar of our mighty God and the truth of His Word.” Isn’t that the case? I know it is for me. With this insightful statement ringing in our ears, author Judy Dunagan goes on to show us that we CAN fight the roars of the enemy because we have Jesus Christ, who has already won the battle, on our side. Published by Moody, “The Loudest Roar: Living in the Unshakable Victory of Christ” is a powerful little volume that will encourage, inspire, and challenge us to live as though victory is ours – because it IS! Convincing AND Convicting!
I did not expect to be convicted by a book about the practice of Hygge, but surprisingly enough, I was! (In the best, and most God-inspired way, of course.) “Holy Hygge: Creating A Place For People To Gather And The Gospel To Grow” was written by new-to-me author Jamie Erickson, and published by Moody in the last months of 2022. This insightful, practical, and challenging book was an eye-opener for me in SO many ways, and I am very glad to have read it. Here are just a few reasons why I recommend “Holy Hygge” to you as well: Continue reading
