Susie Larson is an author I greatly respect, and whenever a new book releases with her name on it I quickly try and add it to my reading list. Her newest volume from Bethany House Publishers is entitled “Blessings for the Soul: Words of Grace and Peace for Your Heart”. This lovely little book is packaged as a floral hardcover with a ribbon bookmark and thick pages that are printed with botanic designs – but the true merit comes from the words on the pages. . . It’s no secret that I LOVE Melissa Michaels’ books. Creator of the award-winning blog “The Inspired Room”, and author of several must-have books about decorating, de-cluttering, organizing, and simply turning a house into a home, she is my favorite author in the House and Home genre. Her newest book from Harvest House Publishers is, perhaps, her best so far because it takes the idea that our dwellings, both our homes and our bodies, are intricately connected and therefore will reflect and transform each other – for good or for bad! “Dwelling: Simple Ways to Nourish Your Home, Body, & Soul” is a must-read for anyone who has enjoyed Melissa’s previous work, or is simply looking for ways to “Feel well where you dwell”! I love animals, especially dogs—so much so, in fact, that I own two dogs of my own, work at an animal shelter, and am training to become a canine massage therapist! So when the opportunity came along to read a book filled with inspirational dog stories, how could I resist? “Doctor Dog: Healing Touches from Pets We Love” was written by M.R. Wells, and published by Harvest House. Categorized as a Devotional, this little book contains dozens of stories about dogs of all shapes and sizes changing the lives of the people they love, often in amazing ways. Continue reading
I recently discovered a fun, unique new Bible Study series called “Word Writers: Experience the Bible…Writing Word by Word”. As with most books of this kind, devotions, reflection questions, and quotes from Scripture are included in a daily reading, but with “Word Writers” there is one more – rather unusual – step… Continue reading
After taking just one look at the Beautiful Word Coloring Bible, it had already surpassed my expectations. If I were going to describe it in just a couple of words, I think that most accurate would be “absolutely charming”.
The illustrations for coloring are lovely – not too intricate, but not too simple, and there are plenty of lightly lined, or blank spaces in the margins that can be used for either journaling, or for drawing your own personal creations. Since it is a Bible, the pages are rather thin, so I would recommend coloring with pencil crayons rather than markers, but the pages are still thicker than a regular Bible. A pretty, light blue ribbon marker, and a lovely presentation page make this Bible ideal to be given as a gift, or simply for your own enjoyment. I also appreciate that it is in the NIV translation.
All in all, I highly recommend the Beautiful Word Bible, whether it is for yourself, or to give as a gift. It is charming to say the least, and will undoubtedly be a wonderful addition to your devotional time, artistic endeavors, or anything else you choose!
I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
