“Beloved Author Lawana Blackwell Returns With a Charming and Memorable Tale!” I couldn’t agree with this tagline more if I had written it myself… “A Haven on Orchard Lane” was published by Bethany House in the summer of 2016, and certainly is both a charming and memorable tale. Continue reading
Changing the World, One Woman at a Time!

Are you a Christian woman who desires to serve God to the best of your ability, and to align your life with God’s perfect design? If so, I want to share with you a new book that holds the ability to permanently transform your life from the inside out… “Girl Defined: God’s Radical Design for Beauty, Femininity, and Identity” was written by sisters Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird, and published by BakerBooks in mid-2016. Because they explain it so well, I’ll let Kristen and Bethany give you a little background info: “The reason we wrote this book is to give you a radically better vision for what true womanhood is all about. The only hope we have as women is to stop defining ourselves according to other people’s standards and start defining it according to God’s Word. In order to become all God created you to be, you have to gain a vision for what true God-defined femininity is all about.” Continue reading
Genuinely Unforgettable
Stepping into the world of an Elizabeth Camden novel is always a magical experience. The characters share their stories with dazzling lifelikeness, and the unique plot yanks you in from the beginning. Rarely are you disappointed! “From This Moment”, Ms. Camden’s 2016 Christian Historical Fiction release from Bethany House, is no exception.
Each character within this story, despite their role, is exquisitely drawn. As per a Camden novel, Romulus the hero and Stella the heroine are unexpected and unorthodox, but utterly charming nonetheless. Their strengths, weaknesses, and ambitions make them approachable and human. Unquestionably, each character within “From This Moment” truly makes the novel an unforgettable one. Continue reading
Perfect for a Summer Afternoon
If you feel like stepping into a Contemporary Romance story that feels like it belongs on the Hallmark channel, you will not want to miss the newest novel by Irene Hannon entitled “Sea Rose Lane”. Published by Revell in the summer of 2016, this story is the sequel to “Hope Harbor” which released last year, and contains numerous recurring characters, plus several new ones. Continue reading
Uninvited – Lysa TerKeurst
I am happy to be able to share this post (from the fantastic fashion/lifestyle blog of Stylin’ By Arrow!) about Lysa TerKeurst’s upcoming book, “Uninvited”. It sounds excellent, and I’m excited to read the book! Check out Brooke’s thoughts regarding her preview of the book below…
The First (For Me), But Not the Last!
“Fading Starlight” is the first book I’ve read by Kathryn Cushman, but it most definitely won’t be the last! Published by Bethany House in 2016, “Fading Starlight” is a contemporary story that weaves the past and present into one captivating narrative. The gift Ms. Cushman has for bringing her characters to life causes readers to feel as though they are watching a movie, not reading a novel, but this story’s merits don’t end there. Let’s take a look at three of the foundational elements upon which this story is built…
If you have ever been interested in fashion and design, even a little bit, this book will undoubtedly prove as fascinating for you as it was for me. Nearly the entire storyline is based upon a foundation of these elements, and the details are delightful to uncover. Continue reading
A Treasure Trove of Truths
“Let Go of Your Insecurities. Take Hold of God’s Promises.” With these words, author Sharon Jaynes invites us on a journey towards greater faith, confidence, and courage. “Take Hold of the Faith You Long For: Let Go, Move Forward, Live Bold” was published by BakerBooks in 2016, and will definitely prove to be a treasure trove of truths for many readers.
Because the titles of each chapter are very revealing of the contents, take a look at the truths you will unwrap through the pages of this impacting book: Continue reading
Much More “Creepy” Than “Cozy”
“Murder Comes by Mail” is the anticipated second book in the “Hidden Springs Mystery” series, written by A.H Gabhart and published by Revell. As a continuation this book focuses on the same protagonist, supporting cast members and setting, but a vastly different plot and mystery. Although considered a “cozy mystery”, the darker elements of this book definitely did not feel very “cozy” to me. Yes, there were a few light and humorous moments, but they never lasted long. Continue reading
A Fitting Conclusion to a Fun Series
The ending to an enjoyable Christian romance series is almost always sigh-worthy, leaving you feeling cozily content with the happily-ever-after ending. In the case of Janice Thompson’s “Brides with Style” series, however, you are also bound to find plenty of lighthearted and laughable moments. Other major highlights include a reunion with all of the quirky but lovable characters you’ve come to know, and the long-awaited (wedding) day you’ve been expecting since the first chapter of the first book. Continue reading
Two out of Three Impressive Novellas
“Secrets and lies. Danger that will never go away. Join three beloved masters of Romantic Suspense for novellas where the past will not stay buried.” With a tagline like this, fans of Dee Henderson, Dani Pettrey, and/or Lynette Eason won’t be able to resist a new three-novella collection published by Bethany House and entitled “Sins of the Past”. Each novella is a standalone, and they are not related to each other in any way. Because of this unique feature, I will briefly share my thoughts about each one individually: Continue reading
