To be honest, I didn’t feel like starting a Christmas book quite yet – it seemed too early. But after reading only the first few chapters of a story that will definitely become an annual tradition, I was enchanted. Tamera Alexander’s newest release from Thomas Nelson, “Christmas at Carnton”, is a novella, but a fairly long one. It is also the introductory story to a new three-novel series about the Carnton Plantation in Franklin, Tennessee. Continue reading

Lacking Tamera’s Signature Magic
When the name Tamera Alexander is on a Christian Historical novel, it is usually one to pay attention to! “To Wager Her Heart” was published by Zondervan in the summer of 2017, and is the third and final installment in the “Belle Meade Plantation” saga. While I have not read the second book in the series, this one still made perfect sense and was not confusing in the least – clearly it would work well as a stand-alone novel. Continue reading
A Final Visit to Prince Edward Island. . .
It’s not every day that the second or third book in a series outshines the first. . . However, I’ve just finished a story which provides proof that it can happen! The “Prince Edward Island Dreams” series, written by Liz Johnson and published by Revell, began with “The Red Door Inn”, followed by “Where Two Hearts Meet”, and has just concluded with the best installment of them all: “On Love’s Gentle Shore”. Released in July of 2017, and obviously set on Canada’s smallest province of Prince Edward Island, this book was a must-read for me during the month of Canada’s 150th birthday. Continue reading
The Most Action-Packed Story of the Series!
I’ve long anticipated the third installment of “The Nikki Boyd Files”, a Romantic Suspense series written by Lisa Harris and published by Revell. Fittingly entitled “Pursued”, this new story is an edge-of-your-seat nail-biter in just as many ways as the previous books in the series (“Vendetta” and “Missing”), but is perhaps even more descriptively violent. Continue reading
The Final Chapter of the Belmont Mansion Saga… A Masterpiece
Have you ever read a book that was so beautiful, so masterfully written, and reached so far into the depths of your heart that any words you used to describe it felt woefully inadequate? That is exactly my predicament after reading the long-awaited conclusion to the unforgettable “Belmont Mansion” series by Tamera Alexander, entitled “A Note Yet Unsung”. Although several characters are recurring from the previous books in the series, (including Belmong Mansion, which is almost a character itself!) “A Note Yet Unsung” is a brand-new story all of its own. If you haven’t already guessed from the title, the primary theme of this novel is the art of music. Continue reading
You Will Be Changed
Lyrical. Honest. Inquiring. Beautiful. I could continue, but these four words give you at least a partial picture of the depth and power held in the pages of a new book by Charles Martin, entitled “Long Way Gone”. Published by Thomas Nelson in 2016, this is the first novel by Charles Martin that I have ever read. It won’t be my last! Rarely do Christian novels probe as deeply into the human heart and touch readers in as many profound ways as “Long Way Gone” does. Quite simply, once you read it you won’t forget it. It may even change you as a person. Continue reading
