Have you ever felt as though you are not creative? Maybe you feel like creativity is only something for those “artsy types” who are able to understand abstract art, or seem to always get the perfect angles in their photographs. Well, in her new book, “Courageous Creative”, Jenny Randle is here to tell you that the creative journey is for absolutely everyone because we have all been created by a creative God. Whatever your life looks like, this interactive devotional will be a valuable step to either boost your creative mind, or rediscover the creativity that is perhaps buried beneath the not-so-great parts of life. I have come to greatly respect all of the Moody Bible Studies for Women, as they never fail to be in-depth, Scripture-based books that equip women with the perfect tools to dive into God’s word and discover the truths of the Bible for themselves. “He Is Enough: Living in the Fullness of Jesus” is a 6-week Bible study of Colossians written by author Asheritah Ciuciu, and published by Moody in the summer of 2018. While this book certainly holds to the high standards of each Moody Bible Study I’ve read, it also adds some new techniques, features, and ideas to the mix that bring the book of Colossians to life while teaching us new skills to use in our study of the entire Bible. In terms of encouragement and inspiration for all things house and home, Melissa Michaels simply can’t be beaten. She is a New York Times Bestselling author of several books (all of which I adore!) and creator of “The Inspired Room” blog, which motivates thousands of followers each week with simple ideas for creating inspired rooms of our own. Her newest release from Harvest House Publishers is a delightful little volume entitled “Simple Organizing: 50 Ways to Clear the Clutter”. (Don’t let the title fool you, though, as there are FAR more than 50 ideas in this book. . . Think of it more as 50 broad tips, with numerous ‘sub-tips’ included for each one!) Continue reading
One of my favorite devotionals is the classic “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young. I was excited to see a newly released coloring book from Thomas Nelson, entitled “Jesus Calling: Creative Coloring and Hand Lettering”, as a companion to this wonderful book. Continue reading
The book of Psalms is undoubtedly one of the most beloved books of the Bible. It certainly is for me. Still, I never truly realized the deeper meanings found throughout the Psalms. The many facets of the writing style, the structure, the imagery and many other aspects all work together to create this much deeper meaning than I would have understood at first glance. “Discovering Hope in the Psalms” by Pam Farrel, Jean E. Jones, and Karla Dornacher, is an invaluable resource to help you discover that deeper meaning. Continue reading
When I was recently given the opportunity to review a new coloring book entitled Majestic Mandalas by Orna Ben-Shoshan, I had no idea what to expect. You can imagine my surprise when I received a large, thick, 12”x12” package in the mail, and opened it to discover one of the most beautiful, high-quality coloring books I have ever seen! As the subtitle explains, it is truly “A rich assortment of super-size theme mandalas for coloring fun and relaxation”. Continue reading
Does drawing, scribbling, coloring and doodling bring back fond memories of your childhood? Perhaps now is the time to give it a try once again! With coloring books designed specially for adults making a splash in the book market today, more and more people of all ages are discovering the benefits of coloring in their lives.
Samantha Snyder, founder of Doodle Art Alley, has taken the idea of doodling a step farther. In 2008, she began designing one-of-a-kind coloring pages of inspirational quotes, sayings, proverbs, and words incorporated into images that are just plain fun to color! More recently, Samantha began publishing collections of more intricate coloring pages, forming the series of Doodle Art Alley Books. The first book in the series, ‘Imagination Will Take You Anywhere’, contains 50 doodle art images including quotes from Emily Dickinson, Ralph Waldo Emerson and William Shakespeare, and motivational words such as FAITH, COURAGE, HOPE, and CREATE.
