Sometimes there is a book that comes along that truly lifts you up and gives life and nourishment to your very heart. “The Nature of a Lady” is just that kind of book.

Have you ever found yourself in a story? By that I mean, found a character whose struggles and questions and aspirations are so much like yours, that their story really could be your story? This was the case for me with Kimberly Duffy’s second novel from Bethany House Publishers, entitled “A Tapestry of Light”. This gripping tale swept me away to India, where a young woman’s entire life is turned upside down with a terrible tragedy, followed by an unbelievable discovery.

For the last couple days, I have spent every spare minute at the Chicago World’s Fair of 1893, where I witnessed an unforgettable story unfold. How did I travel back in time? Jocelyn Green’s new release from Bethany House Publishers, “Shadows of the White City”, was my time machine of choice, and as is always the case with her books it completely immersed me from start to finish. This story is the second of “The Windy City Saga”, and takes place almost twenty years after “Veiled in Smoke” occurred. All my favorite characters return in these pages, but this time it is Sylvie Townsend who is featured in the spotlight, as uncomfortable as it may be for her. . .

“The Prince of Spies” is a perfect ending to the unforgettable “Hope and Glory” trilogy by Elizabeth Camden. With fascinating portions of true history mixed in with satisfying, sweet, romantic stories for each of the characters we’ve come to know and love, this third novel is un-put-downable! As per the universal signs of a good story, while reading this book I experienced:

Don’t you love it when a debut novel blows you away with a complex story that comes to life so vividly, it feels as though you lived it yourself? “The Dress Shop on King Street” is an absolutely beautiful time-slip tale by Ashley Clark, the first of a series called “Heirloom Secrets”, and one of the most poignant books I have read in a long while. Published by Bethany House, this story weaves pain and joy of past and present, while gently unveiling a theme of hope long held and dreams unfurled. Continue reading
The “Hearts of Montana” series has come to and end with another adventurous tale entitled “Faith’s Mountain Home”!
Anyone who read the first two books in the series will have been waiting for this one, to finally see the outcome of a storyline that was very prominent in book number two. The story of the twin-brothers-turned-outlaws is finally tied up in this series finale, and paints a picture of redemption, healing, and forgiveness. Also Laura Hannon, who we have met previously, is the leading heroine of this book, and we learn more of her incredibly tragic past. Continue reading
Regina Jennings once again delivers a well-written, compelling, and historically intriguing novel from Bethany House Publishers – plus it is the first in a new series! “Courting Misfortune” opens up “The Joplin Chronicles” with a bang, as our Pinkerton-employed heroine faces danger of all sorts in a showdown against the shady side of a rough-and-tumble mining town. Amy Lynn Green is a brilliantly talented writer who, I am thrilled to say, has released her first novel from Bethany House Publishers – the very place where she has worked as a publicist for several years! Amy’s nonfiction articles have been featured in numerous publications that I’ve had the pleasure of reading over the years, and each one showcases her sparkling wit and thought-provoking wisdom. Now, this gift of writing has (at long last!) been transferred over into a beautiful novel that I almost missed, but I’m so glad I didn’t! Continue reading
