A Trip To PEI -Just What We All Need!

Book number 2 in the “Prince Edward Island Shores” series is one of the novels I was most anticipating this summer, because a visit to the Island (even a fictitious visit) is always a welcome retreat!  The Last Way Home” is Liz Johnson’s sequel to “Beyond the Tides”, and tells the story of two characters we were just briefly introduced to – but who now share a whole plethora of history, secrets, and surprises with us. So Much Life Is Held Within These Pages

What a beautiful, unexpected, ‘overflowing’ book this was!  What do I mean by overflowing?  Well, there was just so much story, emotion, and ‘living’ held within the pages of this story, that it truly seems to overflow with it all – in the best way possible…. “By Way of the Moonlight” was written by the amazingly talented Elizabeth Musser and published by Bethany House.  It is the second book I’ve read by this author, and it cements my opinion that she is unparalleled in her craft as a writer of emotional, multi-layered fiction that is not afraid to dive deep into the longings of the human soul.   Continue reading

Now My Summer Is Complete!

I know I’ve said it before, but I’m going to say it again – my summer would not be complete without reading a new Karen Witemeyer novel right in the middle!  In Honor’s Defense” is the latest Bethany House release from this prolific and bestselling author, and it is definitely one of my favorites.  It is also the third and final story of the “Hanger’s Horsemen” saga, and so it ties up all the lose ends we’ve been wondering about. Continue reading

An Un-Relaxing Hawaiian Vacation!

Are you ready for a peaceful, relaxing vacation to the quiet beaches of idyllic Hawaii?  Well, if so, you’d better look elsewhere – this is definitely not the book for you, lol!  Elysium Tide” does take place in Hawaii, but it is also a fast-paced, twisting and turning, thrilling and unpredictable suspense novel from start to finish.  There is no relaxing to be found within these pages!  I have never before read a story by James R. Hannibal, but this talented author is definitely added to my reading list now for any future releases.   Continue reading

An Unhurried Story of Love and Forgiveness – Guest Review by Hayley

“Where the Road Bends” is a sweet story that historical fiction fans will treasure.  This was the first novel I’ve read by Rachel Fordham, and I was impressed by the unique story line. Continue reading

Janette Oke’s Legacy Continues

We’ve reached the end of an era, folks!  Janette Oke, along with her daughter Laurel Oke Logan, have just penned what I presume will be their last novel.  Of course only time will tell if the duo has any more stories up their sleeves, but perhaps Janette is at last ready for retirement after decades of bringing us some of the most iconic and beloved stories in the Christian Historical Fiction genre.   Continue reading

The Sky King Ranch Adventure Continues!

You know how some series of books have plots that are so closely connected in time, the wait between their publications seems interminable?  Susan May Warren’s “Sky King Ranch” series is very much written this way – after reading “Sunrise” several months ago, the countdown was on until “Sunburst” finally released from Revell.  Now that I’ve devoured this one, I’m waiting (im)patiently for “Sundown” to be released later this fall! Continue reading

Not Your Typical Amish Story

I don’t know about you, but I don’t often think of the terms Amish and Murder Mystery as being simultaneous descriptions for the same novel – am I right?  And yet that is exactly what “Among the Innocent” is!  While technically in the romantic suspense genre, this new novel written by Mary Alford and published by Revell is a thrilling, unexpected, and deeply riveting tale that rocks a quiet Amish community to its core when a series of murders takes the lives of their near and dear.  It is up to Leah Miller, herself a former Amish member and now a police officer, to solve this deadly mystery before others end up hurt.   Continue reading

Not The Series’ Finest

The “Colorado Cowboys” saga continues in book #3, “To Tame a Cowboy”, written by talented author Jody Hedlund and published by Bethany House.  I know there will be at least one more book to come in the series later this fall, and I’m expecting two more – so that each McQuaid sibling gets to tell their story.  Filled with plenty of adventure and romance set on the Western frontier, “To Tame a Cowboy” is an interesting addition to the series.  But, it is not my favourite for a few reasons… Continue reading

An Unforgettable Final Visit To Misty River

Becky Wade always pens such satisfying, sigh-worthy novels that enmesh faith, romance, and a twisting-turning plot – the result is a story that stays with you long after you reach the end.  Turn to Me” is the third and final story in the “Misty River Romance” series, and as you can imagine, it was a bittersweet moment reading the final pages.  Luckily, this story in particular could definitely be read again one day soon!
