Step Back In Time To Sweetwater Crossing

As you probably know, Christian Historical Fiction is my favorite genre hands-down.  More specifically, stories with a traditional western setting during the 1800s are my go-to choices.  So Amanda Cabot’s writing is always appealing to me, and when I saw that her new series entitled “Secrets of Sweetwater Crossing” is set in a little Texas town where love grows even as mysteries threaten to divide, I knew I wanted to give it a try! A New Destination and Adventure In The American Wonders Collection!

In book #3 of the “American Wonders Collection”, Regina Scott takes us to another historically unique setting where a courageous woman takes a stand and faces seemingly insurmountable odds.  This is the very basic synopsis for each of the three books in the series, but in all other aspects of story and characterization, each one is different and special in its own way.  In “A View Most Glorious” we go back in time to 1893 and journey alongside Coraline Baxter as she becomes one of the first women to climb Mount Ranier in the state of Washington, in the hopes of raising awareness for the suffragette cause and gaining women the right to vote.   Continue reading

Jaime Jo Wright’s Best Story Yet (and that’s saying a LOT!)

On the Cliffs of Foxglove Manor” is my new favourite novel by Jaime Jo Wright!  Published by Bethany House in the summer of 2021, this book has just the right mixture of dark mystery, hopeful healing, and dual-time back-and-forth sequences to keep me turning pages long into the night – I simply couldn’t wait to see how it was all resolved!  I also love how it was deliciously creepy and haunting, but it all turned out reasonably explained in the end.   Continue reading

Insights for Offering Help – Guest Review by Tracy

“Shepherding Women in Pain: Real Women, Real Issues, And What You Need to Know to Truly Help” by Bev Hislop is a valuable book for those wanting to understand and offer love and support to women and the many issues they are dealing with, often silently. This book provides an abundance of knowledge for deep questions, such as: how can I stop the pain? The chapters about the issue itself offer true stories, input from professionals, practical suggestions, things to say and do, things to avoid, resources, related scriptures, etc. I included the contents of the book as this speaks volumes for itself (it is organized into 3 sections). Fantastic New Suspense Novel

Don’t you love it when you decide to try a new novel by a new author, and it ends up becoming your new favorite? That is exactly what happened to me when I read “Collision of Lies” written by Tom Threadgill and published by Revell early in 2020. With a fast pace, elements of humor, and a plot that will keep you riveted until the end, it was one of the most enjoyable Christian Suspense novels I’ve read in a long time. Continue reading

A Timely Message

A new release from Revell Publishers written by Kay Wills Wyma holds a very timely message for practically everyone living in the fast-paced world of our modern day and age. “Not the Boss of Us: Putting Overwhelmed In It’s Place In A Do-All, Be-All World” is the response to the questions so many of us feel deep down, sometimes even subconsciously: “Too much to manage and not enough time or energy to do it? What if instead of being overwhelmed with life you could be overwhelmed by Truth with all its grace, hope, peace, and love?” Continue reading

A Haunting Yet Beautiful Story of Unlikely Friendship

“The Solace of Water” by Elizabeth Byler Younts is the type of story that stays with you long after reaching the final page. Published by Thomas Nelson, this book is an intricate tapestry that spans a vast range of emotions, from soul-numbing grief to the hope which only the redemption of Christ can endow. Although external action is not the focus of this story, the inner worlds of the three POV characters are compelling, heart-wrenching, and at times even haunting. Continue reading
