Amazing True Stories for All Ages

“Courageous World Changers: 50 True Stories of Daring Women of God” – doesn’t this title capture your attention and stir your curiosity? Who were these women, and what did they do for God? Although this beautiful volume – written by Shirley Raye Redmond and illustrated by Katya Longhi – is marketed as a children’s title by Harvest House Publishers, I really enjoyed reading it too! If you enjoy inspiring biographies about women of faith, I’m certain you will love it as much as I did. Continue reading

A Unique, Creative Study of the Old Testament

I am always so impressed with the books in Harvest House Publishers’ “Discovering the Bible” creative series, and the newest release is no exception! Written by Pam Farrel, Jean E. Jones, and Karla Dornacher, “Discovering Jesus in the Old Testament: A Creative Devotional Study Experience” allows students of God’s Word to “experience the Old Testament as never before”, and uncover God’s plan for His children through various modes of discovery and study. Diving into this book is truly a unique and unforgettable experience, with features such as: Continue reading

A New Must-Read from Kristen & Bethany of GirlDefined Ministries

“Sex, Purity, and the Longings of a Girl’s Heart: Discovering the Beauty and Freedom of God-Defined Sexuality”. This is a title that I would never have picked up, unless it was written by someone I deeply respect, trust, and admire; and for me, Kristen Clark and Bethany Beal absolutely fit into this category. These two amazing ladies are the founders of Girl Defined Ministries, and also wrote “Girl Defined” and “Love Defined” (all three have been published by BakerBooks). I adore their work, so… I knew their new book would also be a must-read. Continue reading

A Beautiful Edition of a Classic Tale

When a special 20th Anniversary Edition of “one of the most beloved Christian romance novels of all time” released, and I had never read it, I immediately knew what was next on my TBR list! “The Princess” was originally written in 1999 by Lori Wick and quickly became a bestselling classic, with more than 275,000 copies sold. In March of 2019, Harvest House Publishers re-released the story in a gorgeous hardcover keepsake edition, complete with ribbon bookmark and foil-adorned cover. Now a new generation of readers, myself included, can enjoy the gentle love story set in the fictional land of Pendaran. Continue reading

A Relationship Memoir from Jeremy and Audrey Roloff

Jeremy and Audrey Roloff are a couple used to being in the spotlight, due to the television show based on Jeremy’s family (TLC’s “Little People, Big World”), but now they are stepping into a different public role – as authors. “A Love Letter Life: Pursue Creatively, Date Intentionally, Love Faithfully” is set to be published by Zondervan in April of 2019, and is a memoir of sorts detailing the couple’s love story and providing inspiration for writing your own unique love story. Continue reading

A Compelling, Visually-Comprehensive Guide to Understanding Biblical Prophesy

If you have ever wondered about biblical prophecy, even if it was just a passing question that stirred your interest, I highly recommend reading a new release from Harvest House Publishers. Written and illustrated by Todd Hampson, “The Non- Prophet’s Guide to the End Times: Biblical Prophecy for Everyone” is an engaging and understandable book that is overflowing with down-to-earth information, helping us understand the ins and outs of the important element of prophecy in the Bible. Todd Hampson promises this book will a) cut through the complexity and confusion of his topic, b) be entertaining and user-friendly, and c) be full of fascinating visuals, timelines, and charts – and this book more than delivers on every promise. A Great Resource

While prayer is something we are all familiar with, I believe if we are honest with ourselves it is also something we often struggle with. A new book from Moody Publishers addresses this topic directly with a book by Bill Thrasher, entitled “A Journey to Victorious Praying: Finding Discipline and Delight in Your Prayer Life”. This book is for you “If you’ve ever felt too busy, confused, or unmotivated to pray”.

This little book makes an excellent month-long daily devotional because the content is divided into short chapters that are packed with advice, stories, insights, questions for thought and journaling, key Scripture verses, and more. Continue reading

A Hope-Filled Treasure

Every Little Thing imageIsn’t it a delightful surprise when you decide to read a book you don’t know much about, by an author you’ve never heard of – and it turns out to be one of the best non-fiction books you’ve read in a long time? Well, that is exactly what happened to me when I picked up a little paperback from BakerBooks entitled Every Little Thing written by Deidra Riggs. As she explains on the back cover, Deidra’s story “calls you to accept God’s invitation to join him in making a difference right where you are, right now. She shows you that you were created with a purpose and with the capacities to fulfill that purpose.” Written in a warm, witty voice, Deidra weaves her thoughts into beautiful word-pictures that will touch your heart… And maybe even give it hope, too.
