Adulting. . . You’ve probably heard the word, and perhaps read a humorous joke or cartoon about the concept of becoming an adult in today’s world. But have you ever questioned how to actually ‘Adult’ (a verb) in a responsible and God-honoring way that will lay a solid foundation for the rest of your life? Or, have you ever asked the question “I’m an adult…NOW WHAT?” If either of these questions applies to you, a new release from BakerBooks written by pastor Jonathan “JP” Pokluda with Kevin McConaghy is definitely one that should be added to your TBR list. If I were to create a list of absolute must-read books for anyone aged 20-35, Paul Angone’s newest release would definitely be near the top! “101 Questions You Need to Ask in Your Twenties (and let’s be honest, your thirties too)” is a fantastic resource from Moody Publishers that, if applied, will undoubtedly help young adults begin thinking and living with intention and purpose. I know it has helped me immensely. Continue reading

“Deeper Waters: Immersed in the Life-Changing Truth of God’s Word” is the type of book that you will want to keep close by, on your nightstand or in your desk, because you will inevitably want to read and reference it time after time. Written by Denise J. Hughes (author of the “Word Writers” series) and published by Harvest House in 2017, this book offered so much more than I expected. Unquestionably one of the best non-fiction books I’ve read this year, “Deeper Waters” is a resource I cannot recommend highly enough. Continue reading
Called to Pray: Astounding Stories of Answered Prayer was written by award-winning author and popular speaker Linda Evans Shepherd, and published by Revell in the later portion of 2015. As the title suggests, this book is filled to overflowing with examples of dynamic, unexpected, and miraculous answers to prayer in the lives of ordinary people. What did all these people have in common? They simply had the faith to heed God’s call to pray, and witnessed extraordinary events in their lives as a result.
Without question, this book is an inspiration and an invitation to pray more often, for more people, and in every situation that we find ourselves. Conveniently divided into ten sections with titles such as “Called to Pray for Protection”, “Called to Pray for Needs”, “Called to Pray for Encouragement”, etc., the book holds dozens of stories that bring the power of prayer to life in vivid detail. My personal favorites were Continue reading
