“On a Summer Tide”, by Suzanne Woods Fisher is the first book I’ve read by this author. Although this book is in the Contemporary Romance genre, I would consider the romance in this book to be a more secondary storyline. The largest portion of “On a Summer Tide” is devoted to following the story of a father, his three grown daughters, and his grandson, as they struggle to reconnect after years of discord among their family following a terrible tragedy. A New Must-Read from Kristen & Bethany of GirlDefined Ministries
“Sex, Purity, and the Longings of a Girl’s Heart: Discovering the Beauty and Freedom of God-Defined Sexuality”. This is a title that I would never have picked up, unless it was written by someone I deeply respect, trust, and admire; and for me, Kristen Clark and Bethany Beal absolutely fit into this category. These two amazing ladies are the founders of Girl Defined Ministries, and also wrote “Girl Defined” and “Love Defined” (all three have been published by BakerBooks). I adore their work, so… I knew their new book would also be a must-read. Continue reading
A Pleasant Addition to the “Canadian Crossings” Series
Canadian author Susan Anne Mason continues the story set in her home country (and mine!) in book number two of the “Canadian Crossings” series. “The Highest of Hopes” was published by Bethany House, and tells the story of Emmaline Moore as she journeys to Canada in search of her father – and what she believes will finally be a place to belong. An Amazing, Unpredictable, Unforgettable Story – Guest Review by Hayley
“Far Side of the Sea” is Kate Breslin’s newest release, and what a story it is! This novel follows the journey of Johanna Reyer, and also of Colin Mabry, the twin brother of Grace Mabry, whom we already know from “Not by Sight”. I was pleasantly surprised at the relation between these two books, as there was another release in between, but I greatly enjoyed the stories of these new characters, and also enjoyed revisiting a few that I already knew. Another Treasure from Emily P. Freeman
Any book written by Emily P. Freeman is a guaranteed read for me. She has such a wise, gentle way of sharing powerful life truths that really resonates with me, and her books “A Million Little Ways” and “Simply Tuesday” remain two of my favorite Christian Living books ever. Her newest release is just as wonderful as I’ve been expecting, and is entitled “The Next Right Thing: A Simple, Soulful Practice for Making Life Decisions”. Published by Revell in mid-2019, this book is a powerful tool to help us “create space for your soul to breathe so you can live life with God at a gentle pace and discern your next right thing in love.” Continue reading
My Favorite Contemporary Romance In Years!
Are you looking for a book that will satisfy your inner romantic and your sweet tooth all in one clean, funny, well-written and absolutely charming novel? Well look no farther than “Sweet On You”, the last story in Becky Wade’s delightful “Bradford Sisters Romance” series. I have long been waiting for this one, largely because I loved Britt and Zander from the moment I was introduced to them in “True to You” (Book #1) and couldn’t wait to witness their story unfold. Although the wait was long, it was so worth it! Continue reading
Wow, What a Great Start to a New Series! – Guest Review by Hayley
“Come one, come all to the Brookstone Wild West Extravaganza!” Who could turn down an invitation like that? I certainly could not, and I’m glad to have accepted. “When You are Near” by acclaimed author Tracie Peterson is the first book I have read by this author, but certainly will not be the last. With a unique storyline centering around the star trick rider of the Brookstone Wild West Extravaganza, this novel is the first in a series to follow the stories of three ladies in this all-female performance. Continue reading
Good Story, But A Little Repetitious – Guest Review by Hayley
“The Tinderbox” is a new release from beloved and esteemed author Beverly Lewis. This book is just the first installment of the stories we will be able to share about the Miller family and their Amish community. Continue reading
Another Unforgettable Caribbean Story – Guest Review by Tracy
Thank you to my daughter Carly for the honour of reviewing this book on her blog. And thank you to the author, Lisa T. Bergren, for “Verity”, an amazing and compelling book two in “The Sugar Baron’s Daughters” series. Continue reading
Fantastic Conclusion to the “High Sierra Sweethearts” Series
I’ve long been anticipating the third and final story in Mary Connealy’s “High Sierra Sweathearts” series, and at last “The Unexpected Champion” has been released! This exciting, sometimes-hilarious-sometimes-frightening story is a fitting conclusion to a unique series, and I’m so glad that everything is satisfactorily tied up for the family who claimed my imagination first in “The Accidental Guardian”, then “The Reluctant Warrior”. Continue reading
