My favourite books are the ones that have a little bit of everything on the emotional spectrum. A story that captures laughter, tears, love, pain and everything in between are the ones that I remember the most. “On Moonberry Lake” is definitely one of those.
It was, quite simply, a beautiful book. There are some books that just make you feel good and “lifted up” when you read them. For me, I found that this book evoked a sense of calm that was just what I needed at the time. Which, oddly enough, is much like the theme of the story itself. People come to Moonberry Lake, and find just what they need to heal their hearts. Continue reading

I had never before read a novel by Christina Suzann Nelson, so when I picked up her new released entitled “Shaped By The Waves” I really wasn’t sure what to expect.
You know you’ve found a rare, special novelist when each time you open up the pages to their fictional world, it feels like a homecoming.
You can always count on Erin Bartels to provide a rich, colorful, and thought-provoking story that simultaneously captures your heart and challenges you toward deeper inward reflection. Published by Revell in the early months of 2021, “All That We Carried” is a powerful tale of two sisters who drifted apart after a tragedy turned their lives upside down, and are now trying to piece their relationship back together. Setting out on a hiking trip to reconnect, they both carry ten years worth of heartache and misunderstanding. But a wilderness escape should be the perfect opportunity to get everything out in the open – or will it?
Don’t you love it when you decide to try a new novel by a new author, and it ends up becoming your new favorite? That is exactly what happened to me when I read “Collision of Lies” written by Tom Threadgill and published by Revell early in 2020. With a fast pace, elements of humor, and a plot that will keep you riveted until the end, it was one of the most enjoyable Christian Suspense novels I’ve read in a long time.
I have read all of Jaime Jo Wright’s novels so far, and each time I am amazed at what amazing creativity and skill she has. “Echoes Among the Stones” is her fourth novel from Bethany House Publishers, and while it was not my personal favorite there is absolutely no question that it was a haunting, dual-time, heartbreaking-but-healing masterpiece.
It is always exciting when a favorite author begins a brand new series, don’t you think? This time it’s Jody Hedlund who has released the first installment of a new story from Bethany House Publishers, entitled “A Reluctant Bride” – book number one in “The Bride Ships” series. The fascinating premise of dozens of poor London women leaving behind all they know and setting sail for British Columbia, where potential husbands await them, is based on true events of the 1860s. This unique scenario, combined with Jody’s masterful skill at weaving a compelling story, allows us to quickly be swept away in a story of hope, healing, and love – all of which come to pass in the most unexpected of ways.
“All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.” This famous quote by Julian of Norwich is the first line of words we read as we pick up Susie Finkbeiner’s new release from Revell, aptly titled “All Manner of Things”. As we continue reading a bit farther, we are swept away to the year 1967, where we meet a family and begin a journey that, within the first few pages, we know we will never forget.
I just finished one of the most beautiful, memorable, and breathtaking books I’ve read yet this year (and I’ve read some pretty great books so far in 2019!). Rachel Hauck’s “The Memory House” was published by Thomas Nelson this past spring, and I simply didn’t want this enthralling saga to end. The vivid characters, the sweeping plot, the heart-wrenching themes, the two different time periods combining into one beautifully tangled tale of love and loss and forgiveness. . . It was captivating, to say the least!
