Once again Liz Johnson takes us on a sweet vacation to the beloved little Canadian island in her newest release of the “Prince Edward Island Dreams” series. “Where Two Hearts Meet” was published by Revell in the autumn of 2016, and continues the story of “The Red Door Inn”, but this time with two different protagonists – one a familiar face, and one a newcomer. The Second Installment to a Fantastic Series!
The second “Serena Jones Mystery” has finally been released to all the patiently waiting fans of “A Fool and His Monet” (book 1 in the series). “Another Day, Another Dali”, written by Sandra Orchard and published by Revell, contains all the charm, wit, and subtle romance of the first book, but is a completely new adventure for Serena and her hilarious band of family, friends, and would-be-suitors. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, comedic romance, and writing that brings each scene to life with clarity, “Serena Jones Mysteries” are the books for you… Continue reading
Calling All Cat Lovers!
Does your family include any furry members of the feline variety? If your answer is yes, I have just the book for you! “Kit Kat and Lucy: The Country Cats Who Changed a City Girl’s World” by Lonnie Hull DuPont is a sweet and charming book about a pair of cats who truly fulfilled the title of their story, in both remarkable and everyday-ordinary ways.
Published by Revell in the autumn of 2016, this delightful true story is certain to bring a smile and perhaps a tear to anyone who has ever held a cat in their heart. A warning, however… For readers who do NOT have a soft spot for felines, well, this book might not be very amusing or heartwarming to you. After all, cats will be cats, for better or worse, and Kit Kat and Lucy are certainly no exception!
I am grateful to have received a copy of this book from Revell Reads, free of charge, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
A Brilliant Plot – A Guest Review by Hayley
At last, the third installment to the “Men of Valor” series has been released! Readers of the first two books in this family saga will undoubtedly flock to Irene Hannon’s newest release, “Tangled Webs”. And with the promise of suspense and intrigue, who wouldn’t?
I am very impressed with the storyline of “Tangled Webs”. The many layers to the plot, and how it all comes together in such a complicated yet understandable way, was nothing short of brilliant, and I credit the author for achieving this task to such a high degree. This book is truly a very intricately woven web of plots, incidents – and consequences. Continue reading
A Compelling Countdown to Catastrophe
Do you enjoy suspense novels that suck you in with the first chapter and keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end, guessing at how all the twists and turns will unravel when the truth is finally revealed? “The Raven” by Mike Nappa is just such a book. Published by Revell in 2016, “The Raven” is actually the second book in the “Coffey and Hill” series. While I have not read the previous book (entitled “Annabel Lee”) it did not detract from my enjoyment of this separate-but-connected storyline. Also, while I am not an Edgar Allan Poe aficionado, fans of the famous poet will be delighted by the many intriguing parallels found in the story. Continue reading
A Great Continuation of the “Elite Guardians” Series
Although Christian Romantic Suspense is not my go-to genre of choice, I am happy to be swept away by one filled with mystery, intrigue, and excitement once in a while. Last year I enjoyed “Always Watching”, the first book in Lynette Eason’s “Elite Guardians” series published by Revell, and recently had the chance to read the second installment entitled “Without Warning”. Just who are the Elite Guardians, you ask? As the tagline for the series explains: “Intensity. Skill. Tenacity. The Bodyguards of Elite Guardians Agency Have It All.” Continue reading
This Sequel Doesn’t Meet Expectations
After reading book #1 in the “Keys of Promise” series by Christine Johnson, I had very high expectations for book #2, “Honor Redeemed”. Were those expectations met? Well, not exactly…
“Honor Redeemed” was published by Revell in the later summer of 2016, and is the sequel to “Love’s Rescue” published the year before. Although the hero and heroine of this second story are newly introduced characters, several recurring characters also play important secondary roles. This gives readers a chance to be reacquainted with “old friends”. Continue reading
Much More “Creepy” Than “Cozy”
“Murder Comes by Mail” is the anticipated second book in the “Hidden Springs Mystery” series, written by A.H Gabhart and published by Revell. As a continuation this book focuses on the same protagonist, supporting cast members and setting, but a vastly different plot and mystery. Although considered a “cozy mystery”, the darker elements of this book definitely did not feel very “cozy” to me. Yes, there were a few light and humorous moments, but they never lasted long. Continue reading
Christian Historical Fiction at Its Best! (Guest review by H.B.E.)
I read “Through Waters Deep” very soon after it was released from Revell last year. Seeing how it became one of my MOST favourite books I have EVER read in my ENTIRE life, I guess you could say that I was just a little bit excited for “Anchor in the Storm” to be released. But could this new sequel even come close to reaching the nearly impossible high standards set by the first book in the Waves of Freedom series? Continue reading
A Poetic, Seasonal Journey
“Roots and Sky: A Journey Home in Four Seasons”… In all truth, this title pretty much describes the book perfectly. Written by Christie Purifoy and published by Revell in the spring of 2016, “Roots and Sky” is indeed a “journey home”. Naturally, this journey occurs through the four seasons of a year, beginning with Fall and progressing gently, peacefully, and naturally through Winter, Spring, and Summer. Continue reading
